I'm a solo FRR and have been fighting mostly Ghost Bear/Wolf, if that means anything.

For this event, played 38 won 25.
You are better off finding people to drop with vs. relying on randoms. That way you can have some consistency and also use builds that play to the strength of the group.

Russ wasn't joking when he said MWO isn't for single players.
(Note: I've played a 6-7 matches while I was in a 4-man group myself. We won all except one, which we would probably have won if we understood the rules better.)

It is also a requirement that you support one another, which if given bad communication with a teammate does not help a bit.
It also requires you pay attention to the rules and what needs to be done in a timely manner.... and....
It is time sensitive, so if you bring a mech under 100 KPH you might be a detriment to the team, especially if any of the above are also true.
Given time folks will learn the rules and figure it all out, but right now just like how domination was it will be a mess for a while.
Best advice is to form a 4 man before you play scout mode.

Yeah, the lack of tier grouping is definitely noticeable. In one of my matches yesterday, my team charged the enemy (Stormcrow, Jenner, Shadow Cat, something else on their side) and I managed to snag a solo kill on the stormcrow and cripple the jenner before getting focused down, but everyone else just split their fire between all the enemies instead of focusing. I called out focus targets, but it was just 3 1v1s. Really painful to watch. One of our guys didn't even seem to know how to move his legs, so he was twisted full right the entire match and hardly hitting anything.
I'm not in a unit but it's definitely making me want to be.

Granted it very much depends on which folks I'm grouped up with but... if I can grab a few people who also appreciate anti-meta builds it tends to go quite well. No one expects double AMS STD engined wolfhounds with AMS overdrive and ML range boost. Streak boat? Nullified. Durable clan cheetos? Not as durable as me. Not by a long shot (plus most run ER SL these days so less range to boot) Laser vomit storm crow? Legged. Lurms? Well i'm sure someone will bring them at some point... Ballistics boat like the Hunchie? Go ahead, take an arm. Take a ST, hell take both, I still have 2 ML and from hell's heart I stab at thee!

The problem with FWL teamspeak is that it SEEMS like a premade, but with the exception of about five people you may as well be solo dropping.

I dont wait and stare on my Screen for the Mission Popup - Quick Play is predictable.

In my experience, most lights are useless unless you've got serious firepower like an Oxide or a Jenner IIC. I just ignore stuff like ACHs and Shadowcats and go after the most dangerous mediums. SRM boats just seem to rule because lasers take too long to kill in a frenetic dogfight. 4xASRM6 can kill or cripple any enemy in 2-3 alphas. Throw some flamers on there and you can kill mechs with great efficiency.
The best Clan 4-man I've run across had 2 Stormcrows with SRMs + SPLs and 2 Cheetahs with flamers only. Just lock-down and explode, incredibly effective.

Gathering intel gives no match score, because apparently, gathering intel and winning isn't what this mode is about. It's about slamming into the enemy mechs and doing as much damage as possible before exploding in a flame of glory. Sounds like scouting to me.
-sigh-
Won 7/10 matches and my reward table looks stupid because I was playing to win the game mode, not a skirmish.

I lose almost every match when I'm playing with PUGs.

All done solo except for maybe 5 that were in a group.
Realistically, if you want to increase chances of a win, you need to communicate preferably on VOIP as this mode is pretty fast paced once you engage and you will not have time to type.
