At current I've played 31 scout missions and only won 8 of them. Even if I win there's no certainty you'll get 80 points especially if you're collecting the intel.

I've done 15 and won 7, so pretty much 50/50 so far. My first few (first day of event) were pretty messy, getting ERLL Cicadas and 60 KPH Blackjacks on my teams...since then people have caught on I think. My biggest issue for the event is that I don't really have any good fast (>110kph) IS mechs, so gathering intel has been a bit slow.

I'm a solo FRR and have been fighting mostly Ghost Bear/Wolf, if that means anything.

If you want to win you have to drop in a 4 man group. You can win dropping solo, but your odds are greatly decreased. Also, you want to protect Intel so that you can get your 80 points from fighting. Playing a sneaky light to cap Intel and then hit the evacuation zone at the last second for the win doesn't score well. I have been solo dropping and it does get very frustrating, I am like 2 wins in 10 or 12 matches.

144 won 90.

For this event, played 38 won 25.

You are better off finding people to drop with vs. relying on randoms. That way you can have some consistency and also use builds that play to the strength of the group.

Winning about 50%. The lack of teamwork and communication is absolutely brutal. Like playing tier 5 matches, with a 50% chance of running into an organized 4-man group of Tier 1 enemies.

Russ wasn't joking when he said MWO isn't for single players.

(Note: I've played a 6-7 matches while I was in a 4-man group myself. We won all except one, which we would probably have won if we understood the rules better.)

It's a new mode so a lot of folks still think the point is always to destroy the other team.

It is also a requirement that you support one another, which if given bad communication with a teammate does not help a bit.

It also requires you pay attention to the rules and what needs to be done in a timely manner.... and....

It is time sensitive, so if you bring a mech under 100 KPH you might be a detriment to the team, especially if any of the above are also true.

Given time folks will learn the rules and figure it all out, but right now just like how domination was it will be a mess for a while.

Best advice is to form a 4 man before you play scout mode.

Yeah, the lack of tier grouping is definitely noticeable. In one of my matches yesterday, my team charged the enemy (Stormcrow, Jenner, Shadow Cat, something else on their side) and I managed to snag a solo kill on the stormcrow and cripple the jenner before getting focused down, but everyone else just split their fire between all the enemies instead of focusing. I called out focus targets, but it was just 3 1v1s. Really painful to watch. One of our guys didn't even seem to know how to move his legs, so he was twisted full right the entire match and hardly hitting anything.

I'm not in a unit but it's definitely making me want to be.

Mine is quite high. But I'm a light and fast medium specialist so this mode is basically designed for me.

Granted it very much depends on which folks I'm grouped up with but... if I can grab a few people who also appreciate anti-meta builds it tends to go quite well. No one expects double AMS STD engined wolfhounds with AMS overdrive and ML range boost. Streak boat? Nullified. Durable clan cheetos? Not as durable as me. Not by a long shot (plus most run ER SL these days so less range to boot) Laser vomit storm crow? Legged. Lurms? Well i'm sure someone will bring them at some point... Ballistics boat like the Hunchie? Go ahead, take an arm. Take a ST, hell take both, I still have 2 ML and from hell's heart I stab at thee!

I have been dropping with FWL on Teamspeak quite a bit though as well, so I have been in premades.

Will, if I'm on hit up me and Ramsess, we've been doing pretty well with them.

The problem with FWL teamspeak is that it SEEMS like a premade, but with the exception of about five people you may as well be solo dropping.

1.0 as i got so far one single freelancer Scout Mission - gladly IS vs IS.
I dont wait and stare on my Screen for the Mission Popup - Quick Play is predictable.

I'm winning about 2-1. I'd say 90% of my matches are decided by combat, so this whole "I'm just gonna be a superfast light" just doesn't work out most of the time. Your only chance is on Gather missions, but it's likely your 3 teammates will die and you'll have to chance running into the drop zone at the last second.

In my experience, most lights are useless unless you've got serious firepower like an Oxide or a Jenner IIC. I just ignore stuff like ACHs and Shadowcats and go after the most dangerous mediums. SRM boats just seem to rule because lasers take too long to kill in a frenetic dogfight. 4xASRM6 can kill or cripple any enemy in 2-3 alphas. Throw some flamers on there and you can kill mechs with great efficiency.

The best Clan 4-man I've run across had 2 Stormcrows with SRMs + SPLs and 2 Cheetahs with flamers only. Just lock-down and explode, incredibly effective.

They should just rename scout mode to "medium brawl mode".

Gathering intel gives no match score, because apparently, gathering intel and winning isn't what this mode is about. It's about slamming into the enemy mechs and doing as much damage as possible before exploding in a flame of glory. Sounds like scouting to me.

-sigh-

Won 7/10 matches and my reward table looks stupid because I was playing to win the game mode, not a skirmish.

I win almost every match when I'm playing as part of a 4-man.

I lose almost every match when I'm playing with PUGs.

I've played 34 since the event started and won 21, that's a 61.76% win ratio. All of the scouting has been against clans as well. Ran with a 4 man from my unit on Friday and Saturday pugged it on Sunday. More fun in the unit 4 mans with a little better win rate I think.

23/48 based on event scores, excludes a couple of wins with <80 match score so slightly better than half.

All done solo except for maybe 5 that were in a group.

Realistically, if you want to increase chances of a win, you need to communicate preferably on VOIP as this mode is pretty fast paced once you engage and you will not have time to type.

All things being equal, this battle mode is not equal. 3 of 21. Playing solo. Ya ya I know. But if you took 4 random clanners and 4 random IS, the ratio would be bad for the IS over time too.
