The idea of weapon bob in general is great and would help to reduce pinpoint damage. That it would be dependent on where you put your guns would be an even nicer feature, bringing a bit more depth to the game. But I really can't see PGI investing any time into something like this. Buy a mechpack instead! Posted Image

Btw, no offense meant (it's a common enough feature nowadays on this board and the internet in general), but how do you become a moderator if you format all your texts like you were writing a poem and use random capitalization? Posted Image
Again, this is not against you as a person, I know that most people don't put much energy into writing on the internet, that's perfectly okay. I'm just a bit buffled that PGI doesn't seem to have any quality control when picking their staff. I'm just asking because I find it a bit hard to read your text because of the formatting and spelling, and if you'd communicate in an official matter with me, that would be kind of awkward, because even if voluntary, you still represent PGI at some point ...

So again, it's nothing against you, but aren't there any guidelines from PGI for their mods when it comes to representing them on this board?

the Idea is
(Legs(Shock Dampaning) to (Waist), to (Torso), would still Bob if nothing else then just abit,
Much more than (Legs) to (Waist) to (Torso) to (Shoulders) to (Arms) being much more Stable,

we can Assume that a Human is More Flexible/Maneuverable than a BattleMech,
-
Try Holding a Laser Light to your Torso, and walk across the Room aiming it at something,
(no matter how Skilled you are, if your holding it against you it will bob up and down)
-
do the same Test but with the Laser in your hand, very very little bobbing,

the idea is give us a reason to Mount Weapons in our Arms,
as well as Lower the Accuracy of Alphas when Running at Full Speed,

a Human has no HUD in the Brain , ist communicated with the aimpoint of a Weapon , a Mech is a Tank of Legs, in a Tank you not aim over the Barrel or Holding Weapons a imaginare Hand.Better giving MWO a Convergence System like the War Thunder system , befor Battle you can select the convergence Range for your Weapons

Don't really like the idea.

Arm mounts do have their strengths against torso mounts if you are in a brawl, poptarting, vertical combat, shooting lights or uav's. It really depends on actuators configuration but still, most arm mounts are already good at what they provide.

most people put weapons in the STs before the arms,
WHY? because STs are Safer for weapons(not Gauss),
this is because they can Be twisted to Spread Damage more,
and Arms can be used for Shielding them in allot of Cases,

most people put weapons in higher mounts regardless of the component. They are preferable for poking and poking can't really be nerfed with your suggested mechanic.

A side-effect of immobilizing gameplay, making it more stand-and-shoot type, is also a negative thing for me.

So... just to reiterate for the community... you can't have any system where different weapons aim at different points. The game simply can't handle that. And we know it can't. And yet every time we talk about "convergence" players seem to forget.

i still think this could be an Interesting Addition,
getting weapons out of the STs and into the Arms,
also helping raise TTK if nothing but Else but by a Tiny Bit,

Would love to try it out actually
Seems like a nice soft counter to pin point
While making arm mounted weapons more usefull

The torso crosshair bobbing is not convergence related is it?
You can aim you're arm reticule at a different spot than you're torso reticule and fire weapons in both sections at the corresponding point

Convergence is still untouched by this suggestion

I'm sure no one wants this, but how about if torso mounted weapons have zero convergence, simply firing straight from their hardpoints, while arm mounted weapons have our current perfect convergence. Suddenly arm mounted weapons become EXTREMELY useful. Now if you don't mind, I'll be putting on my fireproof suit before the realism police, the skill police, and the lore police arrive to lynch me.

the balance police gets you first. mechs like the Hunchback would be rather impalanced compared to mechs like the CFT. because the locations of hardpoints differ so much. Also, yes you get interrogated by the skillpolice, do you think that gaempaly wise its good to put a deeper canyon between the skilled palyers and the noobs? because take a CFT, with these two St hardpoints a skilled palyer (or a macro noob) cna fire them both in quick succession with a correction move and still hit very accurately. And the true noob? even more in trouble not hitting stuff.

Further, prepare to the campercrowd who would nto move and just camp behind corners to take advantage of the non moving crosshair over those poor guys deciding to push.

yes it would be cool, and kinda make sense simulation wise. yet it would make things just worse in terms of balance and skillgap and gameplay.
