If ur a new player i would recommend just playing quickmatches instead of scouting. There is no matchmaker in scouting. An experienced player will tear a new player a new one no mather what mech the new player is piloting. So its better to play tier 4-5 for new players

- new player issues with Faction Play -
Given the event, it is hard to blame new players for trying to participate in FP.
I strongly recommend getting Teamspeak and going to the FRR hub. Once there, look for some experienced players who are willing to group up with you.
The key to beating the Clan scout teams lie in teamwork. Having a great build only goes so far when 4 Clan mechs are pummelling you with S-SRMs, SRMs or 12 small lasers per Nova at the same time.

Link to list of Teamspeak servers if you join some other faction, list includes TS3 servers for Liao, Marik, Steiner, Davion, Kurita and Clans (Strana Mechty) - https://www.mechspec...rver-list.8806/

I have tried many different builds.. laserls, pulse lasers, smalls and mediums in every conceivable configuration.
I have come to the realization that perhaps a energy only mech was a waste of several million cbills.
I can't compete with ssrm dps, and it's difficult to hold lasers on target long enough when fighting so fast enemies.
I am thusly contemplating an ER PPC build just to salvage this and be useful in scouting.
At least those are not "damage over time" and i can deal with projectile travel
Any ideas or suggestions? I'm afraid I've gotten myself in a rutt and the easiest solution is to create yet another mwo account, since i could get 20mill cbills in a day compared to weeks of grinding otherwise..

Try this one, 6 medium pulse, an XL 325 and 16 double heat sinks with endo steel and near max armor. You'll have to tweak the torso armor values to your liking but that's a pretty solid build, it is expensive though.

Under normal circumstances I would agree. However given that there is an event on right now there are a lot of rookies playing scouting.
Personally, 4 out of 5 matches are baby seal clubbing runs, where I can carry my lance of rookies against other lances of complete rookies.
