Have you tried deleting the Shaders subfolder from the game installation yet? They get all kinds of corrupted every now and again and can lead to some interesting graphic outputs.

Also, still haven't seen if OP has tried running Fullscreen mode (instead of Windowed/Full Window).
I've found personally that only Fullscreen uses the in-game brightness/contrast sliders, otherwise it can be too dark for me on certain maps.

Fullscreen has it's on set of documented problems, especially when alt-tabbing is involved.
