So, what exactly do you suggest for mechs that have unique traits in lore? Remove their interesting features and make them even more cookie-cutter than they already are?

why would you want your mech to glow anyway

anything that makes you stand out will just make you a target

even worse is if it reveals to your opponent that youre overheating

All Night Gyrs were eventually retrofitted with normal DHS. I imagine that if they do put it in it will be something you can't get for cbills.

Ah yes. I was not interested in the Night Gyr whatsoever, but when I heard it GLOWS!?!?!?!??! I was like WUT!?!?! Instant buy!

Really though, people are going to buy the Night Gyr because it's likely to be a very good mech. Nearly any feature can be called a gimmick, that doesn't mean it's in any way an intelligent argument. I highly doubt any substantial percentage of people are going to buy it specifically due to the *POSSIBLE* glow effect, and wouldn't buy it otherwise.

Obviously to look like a bad *** when are destroying your enemies.

Are camo patterns and paint jobs gimmicks too? Maybe, but they are quite popular.

I'm not concerned with what I see, so while I'll certainly pop into 3PV to check it out, that's not why.

I want to look badass when I'm wrecking teh faces.

Same reason as why I have custom camo on all my (130ish) mechs.

Maybe they should just tie the effect to a Laser Heat Sink Item (otherwise identical to DHS), and sell it to us so we can make all our mechs FABULOUS!

Laser Heat sinks, are not detrimentally affected by hot conditions, cannot take advantage of cool climates or immersion in water, and cannot interface with coolant trucks (goodbye, coolant flush!). Also halo your mech in a bright glowy target that says 'shoot here, I am overheated and cannot shoot back!'

Laser Heat Sink Cons:
No extra cooling from immersion in water, no use of terribad noobflush, make you more visible for opposing fire.

Laser Heat Sink Pros:
You look like a motherf***ing badass while murdering the OpFor.

Its important to note that Laser heatsinks had ZERO distinction in performance to standard issue double heat sinks. With the environmental variance being the biggest draw of them. (not to mention the light show.)

I can see this being pretty much applied like the hell slinger's previous quirks for a nice bit of lore integration, but given how much people LOVE to play on Frozen city, this could be seen as more of a detriment then an advantage.
