Hi all, as suggested by many of U, after almost 2 months, I've invested 15 euros into mechbays.
Where is the problem, U'd say? easy: like an idiot I am buying everything I see !!
Now I have 1 commando, 2 raven, 1 enforcer, 2 trebuchet, 2 hunchback, 1 thunderbolt and 5 marauder. and I cannot upgrade noone of em, cos in truth, I neither remember their quirks....
and, worse than all, I've realized that I've bought 5 x 50 tons mechs....
Someone told me to never sell mechs, but now I have 5 empty mechbays and I need to know how to fill em.
Assuming that, seen my situation, probably my formation will be marauder x2 and 50tons x2, which 50 tons mechs should I use?
Should instead I go for an assault?
Pls, keep in mind I love really a lot both Marauder with 3 AC/5 and the Bounty Hunter, but I wish I could be able to be useful in any situation.
IDK if anyone will want to give me any advice, but I am really frustrated and have the feeling to had wasted tons of C-bills for nothing good.
I am thinking to sell anything but Marauders and restart a wiser mechbays' filling...
help me pls...

PS: thx again Steinar Bergstol for everything Posted Image

I would advice you to master your mechs.Don't sell them before you do that.

Get yourself some Hunchies, master them, then keep the ones you like. The problem with selling mechs is that you will get only a fraction of what you spent on buying them.So think before you sell mechs. You could also get more Thunderbolts and master those.Or get one more Raven.Since you are newbie, I wouldn't advice you to get an assault.Marauder is good practice before you get an assault since it can tank just as well as some assaults. If you still want to get an assault, get a Mauler. You can't go wrong with a Mauler.

Hope that helped.

buy one more hunchback to make your 3rd and elite them. after that get a 3rd raven and do the same. This will at least give you 6 elited mechs to go with your 5 potentially elited maruaders.

By then you should have a good idea where to go

Don't worry too much about master as I doubt as a new player you have the extra Cbills required for that many extra modules

heres what i do

1. buy mechs in triplicate.
2. master them.
3. sell the ones you dont like.
4. provided you have 3 or more bays, repeat step 1, otherwise...
5. play fw and events, if that works go to step 1, otherwise...
6. ask your parents for money/prostitute yourself out/steal/day labor/get a job/be a bum/leech off the government/move to alaska and qualify for the pfd (this is how i bought my kodiak, maurader, hunch iic and jenner iic).
7. buy mech packs or mc and cash it in for mech bays. go back to step 1.

Sell the Commando, buy a third Raven and master them, make sure you keep the 3L and the 4X.

If you like LRMs keep the Trebs, otherwise sell them. Buy a third HBK and master them all, then keep the ones you like - I recommend the laser boat (the 4SP I think but don't quote me No, it's the 4P) and the AC20 variant. Buy 2 more Enforcers and basic them, then master the ones you like (I recommend keeping the laser variant and the UAC5 variant.)

Master 3 of the Marauders and sell the two you like the least.

You now have an extremely solid light chassis, two extremely solid medium mechs, and one extremely solid heavy, all Inner Sphere. When you have the cash, pick up either a set of Atlases (make sure you get the AS7-S and the AS7-D-DC) or a set of Maulers (make sure you get the one that can run a bunch of AC5s, I forget the exact build but it is a beast.) or a set of Stalkers (make sure you get the 4N).

From there, I would recommend picking up some Clan mechs to complement your current Inner Sphere loadout. I suggest (in this order):

- Arctic Cheetah
- Stormcrow
- Timber Wolf
- Dire Wolf

Buy 3 of each, basic them all, then master the one you like. Once you have mastered a chassis in a particular weight class (which you should already have done with your Inner Sphere mechs), you no longer need to elite mechs to gain access to mastery.

Here's an example to help you understand:
Initial route to mastery:
Basic Raven
Basic another Raven
Basic another Raven
*Elite unlocked for all Ravens
Elite Raven
Elite another Raven
Elite another Raven
*Mastery unlocked for all Ravens
*Mastery via basics unlocked for all light chassis

Basic Cheetah
Basic another Cheetah
Basic another Cheetah
*Elite & Mastery unlocked for all Cheetahs

These suggestions are, of course, all based on mech strength, nothing else. I do recommend picking up mechs based on aesthetics because at the end of the day, part of this game is collecting mechs, but at the same time I imagine you still want to be good at the actual game which is killing people.

also when you have one mastered mech of every chassis its probibly time to quit and play another game, mwo consumed far to much of your life at this point. take my advice and never play another f2p again. i firmly intend not to once i pokemeched everything.

Do what yosharian said except...

Dont get the atlas. Get the stalker or mauler. And outta those i'd do the stalker. Much more forgiving imo. U can get a 5m with 5 lrm10art tag and 3 lasers and have fun lrming. 4n gives u 2 groups of 3LL but the funny thing about tbe 4n is people said it was terrible and dont get it til pgi changed the ghost heat rules now omg u must have it crowd will lynch u if u dont. If u like heroes theres the misery which is quite good. Misery though, all u pay for is a ballistic slot. No xl300 or anything else. Just the rights to slap gauss or ac20 in the torso. Atlas hero is a laser boat. No mauler hero.

Yeah to be fair the other two assaults are easier to play than the Atlas.

I still remember getting atlas in 2013. Pop tarting was still an idea and not practical application. No insta gib. U were a real powerhouse on the battlefield without crazy structure quirks and could tank tank tank. Now, ehhh, ughhh, love hate relationship with atlas

I prefer a STD engine in my hunchbacks so I can lose side torsos and keep fighting. The XL is tempting though, and if it works for you it is fine.

I like having nice even rows of mechs, so I try to have 4 of all my chassis, even if I don't play three of them XD Exception is lights because I'm not much of a light pilot and I'm not wasting four mechbays on Locusts. One is enough of a waste of space XD

Agree, the Mauler is tough and delivers punishment like a rabid gorilla. Also The Banshee are a good newbie "friendly" assault too. It was my first type of assault, never let me down. It got the speed over most assaults. The little drawback is getting used to mostly torso mounted weapons.
