A one on one private match?

How do I launch into a game with one other player?

Go to the social tab (bottom right of centre, looks like 3 head and shoulders silhouettes) then "create private lobby"

then invite other people (minimum of 2) if you want less than 24 players you need 2 people with Premium Time, and to change the full teams dropdown box (greyed out unless there are at least 2 players with premium time) to no.

To add:
Each of the two players with premium time must be on opposing teams as the team leaders.

I think that "feature" got fixed koniving, it even works if both players with premium time are spectators.

This ties in with my question of...what next?

I need to hit the training for a while but then I do not know what else there is and what a member of the Clan can do.

I believe you have to be in a unit for some things. And from above it seems like without having someone pay for time, it does not work as well.

Is there a way to turn that premium time off and on?

If you do not play often, you may want to get the shortest possible PT. However, the shorter the PT period, the more expensive it will be on a per day basis. Minimum is 1 day PT which is very useful for those who only need to use it rarely.

There is no way to turn PT on/off. Once it starts it will run until the time period ends.

There are no longer any requirements to be in a unit to access any of the game modes. The feature that required this was introduced on 19th April and rolled back a week later as PGI deemed that it was not working as intended.

Clan v IS and Unit vs solo have no impact beyond CW, and the only factors there are what Mechs you can use.

almost all of the private match options are locked out without at least 1 person having premium time, and most of the options (including less than 12v12 players) are locked without 2 players with premium time.

as for premium time, if you get it as part of one of the Mech packs it comes banked and you can choose to activate 30 days at a time through your profile on this website.

Premium time gathered from in game is activated immediately as are some one day special codes. From the site through the mech preorder packs are banked and can be activated in 30 day intervals at your leisure from your profile on the site.

...or activated all at once in game... Which I did once for 480 days of premium time.

Unintentionally.

So..it is buy PT or..do what? Try to join with people that do? It also seems like IF you do have a full 12 vs 12, you do not need someone with PT?

I wish I could have preordered the Kodiak. I want it to fill my 4th spot (assault) in my 4 Mech drop team. But If I buy it now, i do not get any PT.

A few days after I started (a week or so ago) I did preorder the Viper for some strange reason. Then I found out that I do not get any of it for 2 months????

I'm starting to think it would be cheaper if I had just saved and bought a PS4 (to play Madden, my only video game beside Total War etc)

I'm really tired from a week of grinding, it is hard to think, lol And does PT run when you are NOT in a mission?

I am not sure if you have done any Quick Play matches or not but your questions seem to imply that you are thinking that the way to play the game is to set up a private match and the system will find you an opponent.

If this is the case, to start playing, first click on Select Mech on the left of the Home screen, click on one of the available trial trial mechs to select it, then click on the Mechlab tab on top, then click on Weapon Groups on the left, assign your weapons, save and click Quick Play on the top right. The system will allocate you to a team and match your team up with an opposing team. This does not require PT or any payments.

Private matches are intended to be used by players who want to play other specific players that they have chosen and are not part of the normal gameplay. Faction Play is intended for more advanced players and you should ignore it for now.

However, with respect to your specific questions -

First find someone who wants to do 1v1 duels or 23 others who want to do 12v12 private matches. Sadly, unless you already know people who play this, your only options to do so are people you meet in Quick Play, Scouting or Invasion matches or by using the Faction Chat.

If you want to do 1v1, your opponent must also have PT OR you must get a third player who has PT to help initiate the private match.

For 12v12, you can do a private match with only one person having PT but you will not be able to change many match parameters. If you wish to be able to change said match parameters, you will need someone else who has PT to also join the match.

Mech packs are made available monthly and are normally announced and made available for purchase well before their release date. If you wish to purchase a mech pack that is delivered immediately, look at the older mech packs available here -> https://mwomercs.com/store. Check the release date (usually stated in the pack FAQ) to confirm that it is immediately available (this means it will be injected in the next hour but not sure if this applies during weekends).

The Kodiak pack still comes with either 30 or 60 day PT depending on which pack you buy. If you scroll to the bottom of the page ( https://mwomercs.com/kodiak ) you will note that the early adopter rewards for this pack are do not include bonus PT.

Lastly, PT continues to run once activated. Please note there are two types of PT. Banked PT comes with mech pack purchases and are activated manually by the player. The PT bought from the in-game store activates once injected so plan your purchase accordingly.

As a final piece of advice - I know that this might be a little late but do not spend (more?) cash buying mech packs, etc until you have at least finished your 25 cadet matches and have tried out several trial mechs. While the trial mechs are not perfect, they are generally not terrible and give you a feel for what kind of mech / weapons you are most comfortable with as well as helping you familiarize yourself with the maps, gameplay, weapons and game mechanics.

The initial learning curve is steep and different mech classes play very differently in most cases. I strongly recommend reading some of the questions posted by other new players to get some ideas on mech selection and gameplay.

You can buy PT for a single day if you just want to run a few 1v1 matches, in the store under boosters. A 1 day PT booster costs 250MC. And yes it does run nonstop, whether you play or not.

Also, if you by packs like the Kodiak you do get the PT, either 30 days banked for the standard or 60 days banked for the collector pack. What you don't get is the pre-order bonus items, which is 3 cockpit items, a camo, 4 modules, and 6.5 million C-bills.

O sweet, the Kodiak is on my list.

This might sound silly but I want a 4 mech load out (I know some player shave 100's of Mechs). I've worked for my Light, Medium and Heavy but I want the Kodiak so I will buy it today.

I happened to find this game when the Faction event opened so I've been doing them and quick play. That is one reason i sort of do not know what else is there. I've been reading here and other sites to try and catch up.

NOW that I know that PT runs ALL THE TIME, I'm so glad i only wasted two days while in the game. I want to spend hours in the training area, but when i have PT, that is wasted money. I'm thinking the best thing to do is start another account for when i want to be in the game going through other things so I do not waste the PT.

But if this Kodiak PT can be put on hold, then it is perfect.
