That is a goddamned good question because that came up once for me and I found it amazing to get a quick-peek at the map... and I have not figured out how to reproduce it either.

Until you posted this, I thought I was either insane or stumbled across a bug...

Spam the map button. Usually hangs up after a few times.

When you view the battlemap, it slides up with an animation that includes that frame and same thing when you turn it off. The picture just shows one of the frames in the slide animation.

I have had it get stuck for few seconds to that view because I have slow machine with even slower GPU.

I have not get it stuck there permanently, though.

It's happened to me before as well. It sticks like that for the duration until you put your map away.
