It gets randomly dropped on the map.
It gets randomly allocated to someone on the team who finds it.
If the finder's team also wins the match, another supply cache is magically created and allocated.
You need to buy a key to it for MC....?!
You open it and some items get randomly destroyed...???!!!

This is where development resources are being allocated? Really, PGI...?

Wait and see what they put in it...

If you ended up getting the equivalent MC value of like a hero mech, or permanent camo...would you complain about spending 300-500 MC for a key to that?

Did you miss the part about how some of the contents randomly blow up?

But you're missing the point. Who needs this crap? Who wanted it, instead of aaalllll the other things that this game actually does need?

Yet PGI have got their scant precious developer resources working on loot crates?!

@Sug: see June/July "Not much going on and I can't even be bothered typing monthly any more" Road Map.

I don't care what is in it if it is a treasure hunt in actual games rather than about blowing up mechs and taking objectives. MAO - Mech Assault Online.

I would certainly complain if I spent 500MC on a crate that contained a Hero Mech, only to receive a stupid cammo pattern unlock for a chassis that i do not own. I would immediately generate a support ticket.

The contents don't "randomly blow up". The crate has a loot table. You open it, it rolls on that table, and from the way it was worded it sounds like it has the potential for multiple rolls. Whatever is rolled gets given to you, and the rest gets thrown away.

Standard F2P crate system (outside of potential multiple rolls).

And you think it is good?

You would truly enjoy playing Dungeons and dragons, then.....

Full of crates, and treasures there!

No. I have waited long enough and seen enough to know how PGI operates. They are doing this to make money. If there is a mech or camo unlock for a prize the cost will be covered by the amount it takes to purchase a key, whether or not it's included.

Somehow I doubt they would give you a camo for a chassis you do not own...it *is* PGI...but even they surely have to see the idiocy in that.

Read what Russ wrote:

Each Supply Cache can be inspected before opening to see what is contained within. Players then have the ability to purchase a Supply Cache Key using MC to unlock the Supply Cache. Once a Supply Cache has been unlocked, a random selection of the Supply Cache contents will be awarded to the player; the rest of the items are destroyed.

Now stop making stuff up that he didn't write.

But that might be just the straw that convinces the camel to buy the Mech in question for MC!!!

the value of the item you actually get needs to be worth the mc you are throwing at a key. nobody wants to spend 100 mc on a medium laser. i have a hundred of those in my inventory as it is.

Hopefully the mc cost is low enough that those who risk it will get something worth while even on a bad rng. Nothing like putting in 5 bucks and getting 45 cents worth of cool shots :/

That would make sense. I expect endless piles of crates full of useless cockpit items, near duplicate paint jobs, camos for mechs you don't even own (because, obviously, that will make me spend real money to buy those mechs), and other junk, like medium lasers.

Disappointment ala lockbox will be the name of the game.
