What would you guys think about having Battle Armor added in the game?

Potentially, after a pilot loses his mech, he begins to periodically respawn in a personalized Battle Armor to continue to help (or be stepped on/blasted). A single battle armor isn't all that effective by itself vs. a full-sized 'mech, but if they work with their surviving teammates they might be able to pitch in enough to turn the tide.

I'm only bringing this idea up because:

A) I think Battle Armor are cool, and they've been around for IRL years, though in-game lore doesn't actually have them appear in any form but the Clan Elemental and Exosuits for a while still.

B) It gives players who lose their 'mechs something to do while waiting for the battle to end, and if you get nailed in seconds at the start of the match you wont feel like you contributed absolutely nothing.

Obviously it has some flaws:

A) Battle Armor doesn't exist in the IS during the current game year.

B) Players may not take their 'mechs well-being so seriously, knowing they can just come back and keep playing as a Battle-Armor. There's already a mechanic that lets you leave a battle prematurely if you get destroyed to go play with another 'mech.

C) Getting zerged by a ton of Battle Armor when you're down to the last 1v1 mechs would probably incite much nerd rage.

aaaaand its gone.

Besides, the fact that there is no respawn is what makes up MWO - without it, it wouldn't be as tactical.

Might be interesting, although they could also take that a slight step further, and allow people to pilot a point (five) of Elementals that work together as a unit. This has been suggested in many other threads, and I personally like the idea. Having a downed pilot eject into a BA suit though? Nah.

I really have to go with no even once it is Lore Friendly. Maybe if they added it as a separate game type, or 5 players had to be in BA at match start, or something like that.

Respawn implementation is a very big no, unless again there is a different game type that it is needed for.

They have this game.

It's called Mechwarrior: Living Legends.

Piloting a mech with full power armor sounds like putting on full arctic gear and going into a sauna with rockets strapped to my shoulders. I've not read all the BT books out there but I recall the cockpits being horribly hot places.

Honestly I would love it if piloting a point of battle armor became a viable choice instead of piloting a mech when it makes sense in the timeline to introduce such a choice. I mean, come on. With the way graphics and technology are up to speed now the actual lore purpose of what battle armors are supposed to do can be worked into the game play, instead of the "joke" way in mechwarrior 2 or the god awful adaptations of he more that are known as mech assault. It would be so cool to be able to pay in ambush in some trees, jet onto the back of an unsuspecting meh, and have your point began ripping it apart up close. To me, that visual imagery alone makes it worth requesting. Now if only there was an easy way to balance that in game...

Wow, damn you autocorrect for messing up my post. Apologize for the misspellings!!

I think it would be cool, but not right now. Lets focus on making the mech vs mech combat actually work and be playable/fun, before adding another feature to the game that would need even more balancing.

If we're going to get into the "respawn in an inferior vehicle" thing, I'd think right now it would actually be more fun, and more lore friendly, to respawn in something like this:

A fast hovercraft armed with a medium laser. Pew pew.

I would love to run a star of elementals, if all 5 were human players. I would so drop with one.

I would love battle armor. I play MW:LL alot and play alomost exclusivly as battle armor. Lots of fun. I agree that droppin as one after your mech gets taken down does not follow the spirit of the game. But startin out with a point would be awesom.

The OP is an "Advanced Member" with only 30-some posts. How does this happen and how did he miss all the other threads about BA and MW:O?

Oh, yeah, he prolly did not know about the search function.

Anyways, the idea he wants was done in Genesis Climber: Mospaedea (with the cyclone battle armor) Okay for anime, but not Mechwarrior - the pilot usually wore shorts/pants, t-shirt, cooling vest and a neuro-helmet.

Say "NO" to ejecting in battle armor. (MW:LL is trying to fix that capability so that it does not happen in the Alpha build)

Kinda defeats the purpose of being in a battlemech.

In the interest of combined arms tactics, I wouldn't mind if they set it up for tanks/ scout trucks, stuff of that nature. But the Mechs come first.

I would eventually like to see Battle Armor in the game, but here is an example of one of threads where this was already discussed:

No thanks.. unless they can be squashed and swatted away like flies. MW:LL has BA's and the fact you can't trample them means they can effectively jump around you like a rabbit and fire, and fire and fire until they core you faster than most light mechs could. It's ridiculous. I'm talking about a single BA. So in that game the implementation of BA's is flawed.. which is one reason I dislike the game (there are others also).

This isn't a sandbox game (ie. Grand Theft 'Mech).. this is MWO.. it's not even Planetside.. for BA stuff, I suggest you go play Planetside.. I will be.. because it's on a level playing field.

Timeframe's a big problem. But I've always wanted playable Battle Armor in MW multiplayer. Heck, for that matter I'd like vehicles and stuff too. Could work in a Battlefield-style game, but meh, it'll never happen anyway.

No, and screw MWLL for giving you battle armor when you eject.

They're SO annoying.

Not just no but H-E-L-L NO!™

They are interested in certain game modes that have downed pilots respawn in their 'Mech hangar so they can choose another 'Mech and go back into the same battle. No need for Mini-Me in this game.

While I have tons of fun in BA in LL and MetTek's MW4: Mercs, it just wouldn't fit in MWO.

As a backup to your death and need to keep playing I'd say strickly no. Down the road as a vehicle for a player to come as a point of 5 battle suits i'd say it might be fun, but mostly single point of battle armor simply isn't each to most mech. Either they don't have enough fire power to take on a bigger mech or the speed to keep up with most lighter mechs.
