I just finished the invasion challenge and have to choose between the 2 IS mechs. I already have the King Crab so the only choice left is the TDR9SE(c).

But I was told that I can select the WarHawk and then sell it for 7 mil. With this money I could then buy the non (c) variant of the thunderbolt. And keep the remaining C-bills.

I checked and the c and non-c variant are exactly the same other than the engine being a bit larger.

Is there any reason to choose the TDR(c) over the non (c) variant?

Thanks

The (C) champion variant tends to have some of the upgrades bought already like endo or DHS. Also the champion gives that variant a 30% exp boost so you level faster or can grind gxp with it .
Hope this helps.
Cheers

^^ That´s pretty much it, the C variant is a "pre updated" version of the stock mech that usually has a relatively competitive loadout, and it provides a small XP boost (which may have been globally raised to 30% from the original 10% that it was aeons ago, but I´d have to open the client to check fore sure.)

So, no, other than the XP boost there is no real reason to prefer the (C) variant.

Not paying for upgrades and engine can be a big deal (up to 10MM), but much more so on the IS side.

If you want to spend real money instead, for a mech that has nothing (IMO) worth paying real money for, sure.

Yes, in his case he´s getting one for free, but that´s usually not the case, and I personally cannot justify spending real money (MC) on something when I can get the exact same thing for free by simply adding some patience to the recipe... :)

Warhawk are great assault mechs, who in their bonkers mind suggested selling it?

Anyway I'd prefer the king crab but the thunderbolt's pre upgraded status means it's ready to roll with minimal investment.

(And I'm saying this as a thunderbolt lover)

Oh for sure. The only place where I could recommend Champions normally would be light champions on sale. I've bought a few of those. $2-4 for 10-12MM CB gets into a range that makes sense to me.
