Who spoke about solo FP?

If you are grouping, why playing solo?

Because I am talking about QP here, not group matches, not FP?

Why am I going there? Because its a fooking option in the game? Because I can?

You are the one who brought up FP, ranted about QP in particular, but not solo play. It appeared you were off to pug in FP because QP solo is bad. Which i thought was hilarious given the fact that FP solo is all the things you dislike about QP but worse.

If you have a good win record in FP mm may be expecting you to carry.

Very unlikely , as there is no MM in FW, and FW matches have no impact on PSR /Tier....

After a longer time stayin away from QP and playing FP only I thought about giving it a try. However losing more than 10 games in a row is nothing that comes anywhere near "fun" or "entertaining". And yes, the teams I was in totally lost with reason. Assaults hiding behind a hill while lights and mediums die at the front, various people pleading for a push in chat, being totally ignored. Brawlers running into a bunch of enemies completely alone and isolated. People trying to call targets over VOIP while no one gives a flying **** about focussing that target. After 3 years PGI has still not managed to get a Matchmaker that's able to build team people can enjoy on either side. The amount of games that ain't lost after the first few minutes and become an entertaining, exciting close match - even if lost - gets no where near 10% of all matches played.

Why am I writing that at all? It seems that PGI won't give a **** about player experience anyhow.

inb4 git gud

QP was intended to be purely a stop-gap measure while CW was "still being developed" (Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image ).

The rest, as they say, is history.

Playing PUG requires a different playstyle depending on tier.

If you're tier 3 and below, no assault will push when people ask to push. I've been burnt numerous times, but when they say "push" in those tiers, they mean "assaults push, get everyone cored and cherry red, dies, then lets the 133t leechers come in a take the kills" Even on higher tiers, people are wary. If you want to get them to push, push together like its meant to be. Assaults pushing alone is a rubbish "strategy" anyway. "Assaults push in first" is just another way of saying "i love to steal kills and be selfish" I've had matches where people shoot through my rear armour for being "in the way" during a push, and all sorts of shenanigans. Playing an assault on PUG is hell.

As a brawler in PUG, no one is under any obligation to watch over you. Its your obligation to stick with the herd and constantly check your map. No one will sacrifice their time and safety to watch over you, so you can go brawl.

Also, getting angry and insistent on "higher" strategies will guarantee a loss on PUG games. PUG is basically whoever can deathball with the assaults, get the better terrain and work better with the team wins. No split flanks and combined assaults. Keep it simple.

Also if tier 1s can descend down to tier 4/5 and seal club their way to deathstar. Its a tired trope, but in the case of consistent losses, there is only 1 constant...

I don't think i've ever lost 10 in a row. I don't think I know anyone that has lost 10 in a row. I have lost maybe 5-6, maybe even 7, never 10. I think you are exagerrating to make a point. Stick to the facts unless you have screenshots. It just makes it seem like you would rather rage rant rather than offer constructive criticism that could help made the game better.

Yup, I'm only Tier 5, probably one of those scrubs the OP is so eloquently complimenting, and even I haven't lost 10 games in a row. I've only been playing for several months, and I haven't skyrocketed to Tier 1 as I've been playing with all the different chassis and builds finding the ones that work for me and I also play mainly for fun. I'm not all life and death serious about the "game" which probably just irks those like the OP. I'm am finally climbing out of the hole now with more wins and games with 600-900 dmg. Not great but a major improvement. Now I know it is more fun to win but I also know that I'm not going to lose the house or car if I don't win.

What I believe the OP would like the MM to give the elite players the option to weed out us for fun players. You know, the ones who keep shooting CT while the VOIP is melting with everyone screaming "Aim for the legs", or the ones that just laugh when they stupidly run smack dab into the middle of a red Dorito convention and never press "r". It reminds me of the old playground days where one kid was always picked last because they weren't as talented as the other kids or worse, didn't quite follow the game rules. Well OP, in this game QP is the public playground and as such, you're going to have to learn to play with whatever kids happen to show up...or don't play at all. If you want more experienced playmates to be available, instead of bad mouthing those who are already here, recruit more players for MWO so eventually there is a larger group of kids to pick from. It's really that simple.

I am not T5. Nevertheless this shouldn't matter, if there was a matchmaker that would work.

Welcome to the random public queue of just about every game ever.

This exact type of "everyone else sucks and the game sucks for me as a direct result, fix it!" whining has been around ever since the first Doom TDM, carried on well though Quake and Halflife /counterstrike, continuied with Battlefield and later CoD, and is still prevalent in MWO. It´s even in MMOs, "I can´t advance becasue my raid sucks".

And the valid answers for it have always been the same, and will never be different.

1. Find a fixed group to practice and play with.

So much this.

Every game I've played requires organized play to avoid poop-for-brains teams.

That was PGI's job, but after a huge support they failed because they suck at game developing. They messed up the game on so many levels that I don't even see an easy way to fix it. They try to balance mechs that are not meant to be balanced like this, just to fit them somehow into their crude uninspired gamemodes. All this bs with the quirks, the leveling, the ghost heat, the constant tuning at the weapon systems and other freaking sore attempts to get this staight. They planned to create a BT simulator and ended up with an arena arcarde that's not deeper than games like Hawken, just with worse graphics, animations and sounds. Plenty of these that had big hopes in this game, after Microsoft let the franchise gather dust for over a decade, already bailed out long time ago for various reasons.
The Matchmaker just can not work like it is now with this tiny playerbase. They tried to get more players in with launching on Steam but if you look at the statistics there, it's only hilarious compared to other games even in smaller niches. And that doesn't help for the experience either. Maybe some socialisation features could help, more player interaction. But that's not even on the radar, they hardly manage to get a proper chatsystem, let alone player profiles, message systems, interactions, stuff other online games already had decades ago.

Isnt MS working on something else related to Mechwarrior / Battletech?

Ive only seen brief mentions of it here and there and have no details. But it has come up several times

In the lower tiers there are not that many people who know what they are doing. Your game experience is likely to be frustrating if you are looking for coherent teamplay. So, your exact tier is rather important.

I find QP to be rather good about 50% of the time.

There is a round based tactical game based on BT on Kickstarter but that's not Mechwarrior in the meaning of a simulator.

This is funny because I actually have found QP to be the more satisfying experience. Win or lose I have never really had fun in a CW/FW/FP game. Maybe because I have never been in a competitive game in FP. They have always been roll stomps for one side or the other and I did not enjoy being on either side of those.

The most fun I have had in MWO has been in QP when a group of strangers found a way to become a team and work together to win a game. I have also been in more close games in QP than I ever saw in FP. Large unit FP play may be very efficient but for me, at least, it is never much fun. Maybe if I was in a unit and we played another good unit and won a close match it would be fun but I have yet to experience that. Does it ever happen? Or is it always Units crushing PUGs like what I have experienced from both sides.

'Git Gud'.

Anyone who continues to b***h about the matchmaker in MWO mostly just automatically needs to increase their Gudness. You know exactly what you're going to be working with when you hit Launch. Adjust your builds and tactics, and stop trying to play like you're a unit drop in Commodity Warfare.
