Kodiak Got A Butt-Ugly Inner Sphere Cockpit?

IS cockpits have already been pretty futuristic and sci-fi. The Clans seem to be more inspired by soviet military vehicles. They're basic, they're simple. The philosophy is that they're basically stripped to the essentials.
If you look at the Raven cockpit, it looks like the cockpit of a modern attack helicopter. It's not "industrial" at all.

Shorter supply lines, faster out fitting for mission profiles, less spare parts needed on hand and most importantly ease of swapping out damage weapons for working ones.

I'll give you that, the Raven looks like the front seat (gunner's seat) in the AH-64, my seat being second (Pilot in Command) was much more Locust 1V like....

In theory, the way Mechs work in Lore (not in Mechwarrior) Omnis WERE superior.
Remember. 99% of IS pilots drove 100% stock mechs. People didn't swap engines and payloads on a whim. Most "modifications" were by necessity, not design.
Along comes the Omni Chassis.
Most clan pilots still drive a "stock" variation, but now each mech has loadouts that can be tailored to the pilot or the mission. In minutes. Literally "Plug and play".
Out in a space mission, you run your TBR with All lasers and jumppacks. Back on planet, it's a boiling desert, so you pack Gauss rifles, on the same mech. And if you were part of the clan 1% then within the Tonnage and Crit space allotments on a chassis, you were indeed allowed to totally custom design your loadout, with far more freedom than in MWO. Yes the core was locked, but all weapon spots were universal, not forced to specific types. If you had the tons and crits available, you could mount it.
It's why the 3050 Omnis had such an agular "socket set" look to them, because they were designed to turn a few bolt and swap payloads, or almost as fast, replace damaged components. Logistically, and Strategically, a proper Btech Omni is miles more advanced than a Battlemech.

But a Hunchback IIC has about as much in common as the A10 does with the earlier P47 it get's it's "Thunderbolt" name from, technologically. Role and inspiration, yes, actual shared components, etc? No.
So while the Kodiak actualyl was somewhat ironically embraced after the Battle of Tukayid by some clan front line warriors, it, like all Clan Battlemechs of this era, was never actually meant to be as spit polished and shiny/fancy as the Omni mechs.
Which IMO is rather ironic since most of the IIC mechs look like advanced machines coming from an alien sci-fi nightmare.

Which makes me wonder, where the heck is the cockpit of the Rifleman IIC originally? I saw from somewhere that the actual pilot sits in the chest of the mech, while the head actually just serves as a camera port for the pilot. I'm guessing that the red lens is the ER small laser, but the yellow lens is the actual cockpit/camera port of the mech?
Clanners are aliums confirmed.

But battlemechs in design are still cooler though

Bad examples, those were based on the unseens which were from Robotech/Macross or whatever, they don't really have BattleTech flavor because of this.

AWS has the right idea when it comes to cockpits, wide and open
Feels claustrophobic

Catapult cockpit is open too, mate, though bit close. And I love Catapult's cockpit.
