Atlas. I popped a fresh one earlier and it wasn't any different than walking through a DW. People had their hopes up but it isn't any different than the DW. The KDK is simply going to be faster, more agile, and rely on a different payload. Clan Atlas it isn't.

Depends on what thier packing. I think my Spirit has 2 lpls a gauss and 4srm6es with a metric fuckton of heatsinks, so i can actually run cool. Not saying its the brawler from hell but I can blow large chunks off of people before they get within range of all the splat....I think I 1 hit another kodiak in the back my first game.

Just squishier :P

Not everyone runs the same quad UAC10 nonsense. I hate clan autocannons.

That's actually a decent build. My original Atlas was similar back in the day. A little bit of stand off power, a little bit of brawler power. Going to be hot but what isn't?

I wanted to see how they stacked up against an atlas, so I dropped this evening in my AS7-S(L). So far the Kodiaks are tough but not a real match for that mech. On a side note mine is probably a little lower on the alpha damage it can put out compared to others I have seen, I carry more ammo and run a little cooler than some I have seen.

To be expected brother man, the Atlas is and shall always be the most feared 'mech on the battlefield

So, Kodiak is out. Which mechs are you using to fight those 100 tonners? How do Kodiaks fare compared to the Dire Wolf, when being hunted? I have not logged in yet, but I imagine my Lurm Archer will enjoy hitting that big CT of theirs. Gonna try my Lolcust on them as well. Posted Image

Right now? I'm pitting 100 ton against 100 ton.
Atlas AS7-D. UAC5 AC10 2 ERLL, 2 SRM4s. We'll see how it does, but initial impression is the Kodiak is one scary mother. I took home a bear rug in my first match up just now so...promising maybe?

I might actually try something abit out of left field if they start proving to be too good at twisting dmg consistently... like a Quad PPC Awesome.

Otherwise...my SRM 20 Oxide probably, would do a pretty decent job. Same thing enjoy siccing on Direwolves, Atlases, Maulers...

I would not expect that to do well against anything honestly

You'd be surprised.
Seems to be still working too, at least in quick play.

they aren't drop everything, pants on fire targets anymore, no. If there is a DWF, Atlas, Wubshee there... the DWF seems to get the attention last.

That's because the Direwhale is still struggling out of the spawn point while the rest of the NASCAR race is halfway across the map.

Once one actually lumbers into range, people tend to take notice.

Dire wolf works just fine. Much easier to kill teddy bears than an atlas. Teddy bear is about as tough as a mauler imo.

eh, all new mechs get focused pretty much all the time.

And mine runs 2xUAC10/1xUAC20. Cuz I'm special.

I run this too. Figured 4 uac10s ghost heat creeps up pretty quick. I ran 2x uac10 and 2xuac20 just for kicks. Dwf can do it better for ammo.
Bear had to go std 300 to have ample amount of ammo. Fun build. Not great but fun. o7

Oxide killed em' well (kills everything well), ACH did a number on a few and even the AS7-S chewed a few up.

They really arent that scary, just gotta get the drop on them. if they waddle up on you (or run if its a SB) and you dont notice its not going to go well if they get a volley or two off first. Like most assault mechs though they have a large CT and have a harder time then most mechs shielding it. Granted they do it better then the DWF most of the build i am seeing require a lot of face time to get that dmg out.

Today I took out my Mad Dog A with 6 LRM5's on chain fire.

I was surprised how easily I could core those Kodiak CTs.

LRM 5s are tough on CTs anyway but I cant core a Executioners CT as easily and definitely cant core an Atlas like that.

As impressive as the kodiaks are, i have found out that below 270m, an atlas will maul you

This is a good point - since the Kodiak's CT is so large, LRM5 streams would presumably work very well against it...

I'm planning on hunting them by outfitting my Urbanmech with a long pole attached to a mech-sized picnic basket. Inside there will be a giant honey jar filled with mech mines. I'll probably get a large ranger hat for my Urbanmech too just to complete the picture.

before i got my bears i got some wolfhounds, but i didnt run them until today. on the very first run with a dual erll and flamer build, i got 2 kodiaks and helped shut down 3 others. i also got a couple in my panther while i was finishing it off and one in a commando.

pretty much any light. many of these kodiak players are probibly not regular assault jocks and are fairly easy to cut down from behind.

My 2x UAC5, 6x ML, Warhammer had been destroying them all night with ease. The Bear has a glass CT. Just bring damage, play right, and topple the gummy bear with lack luster effort.
