As long as we waited, and as much as we paid, this is BS. I mean come on, seriously?

kodiaks? BS? Did you opened a thread even before doing some games in it? you should try it a bit... then come back and tell me again the kodiak is BS.

Spirit Bear: Masc, all Asrm6 and an ac lb20x
Kdk-1: 6-8 spl, 2 asrm6, ac lb20x
Kdk-3: 4 uac10s or 2 uac5 + 2 uac10

All builds run their stock xl400 engines.

They are not too shabby... the 3 is downright awesome with all the high ballistics.

Not sure how this convo morphed to Krab vs Fatlas but ok...

If you build the classic 4 UAC5 Krab, yes you will lose to a AC20 + SRM24 Fatlass because no matter how much damage you are kicking out, the (smart) Fatlas pilot will torso twist when not firing to spread damage.

Meanwhile you must face him the entire tire b/c your dmg is based on continous fire where his is based on alphas so he need only pause torso twisting for a moment to fire.

yes but 4 uac 5 is not the best or end all build for brawling, especialy on shorter ranges, a mauler would do that build way more efficiently. The KGC 0000 and 000B variants can and will be loaded with 2x ac 20 (or gauss/4xlbx10) and 4x6 or 3x6 asrm with the option of adding 3 or 4 more lasers, tho to stay on a heatlevel with the Atlas that would mostly be medium standart or small pulse ones giving the kgc a higher alpha (with chance to onehit if both ac20/gauss hit cockpit) and enought time to twist inbetween alphas, this higher burst dps alows the kgc to take of side torsi in one alpha or core out the atlas in 2 if most things hit.

Yeah that would give it a better chance. In those scenarios it would probably come down to if the Atlas pilot can torso twist off enough damage to maim the Crab. Using both arms to shield and just aiming for the huge CT may be the key vs those crabs...

it always is, KGC has biggest center torso of all and allmost allways reachable. you also want to be in short range and on teh same height since your atlas cant aim up or down as much.

As for why were discussing this? we were discussign the viability of other asssaults vs teh kodiak, and nobody mentioned the KGC.

Just wait i remember reading somewhere that the KGC is some 10%ish too small. So that CT will get bigger soon.

C'mon people, be fair. If he's a casual player, ignorant of the lore and doesn't check the forums (that is, he just wants to play the game) there's little to indicate to him whether any 'Mech is a Omnmech or Battlemech.

Yes, a bit of research would have helped him.

On the other hand, PGI could just add a subtext with the name of a 'Mech on the sales page:

"Clan Battlemech:
Kodiak"

Or something similar. On the FAQ page a "Question" such as "What's the difference between a Battlemech and an Omnimech?" and a brief explanation could also help avoid these problems.

PGI and the community should not assume everyone playing this game is familiar with the BT Universe.
