Alright what is the strategy to get through this?

I killed quite a few with my King crab, 86 alpha.

Sniping them seems touch and go, alot of medium ranged kodiak builds it seems.

I think the answer is LRMS

we need to bring out the archers, catapults, stalkers, and whatever else.

We will probably need scouts too for spotting. narc and tag will really put the hurt on them.
I never thought I would be saying, "Hey put more damn lrms in the game," But that is exactly what we need right now.

Established effective strategies so far

1. Use light mechs, kill them from behind.

2. Install a flamer on your mech, and overheat them. (especially effective until they get the heat dissipation bonus from the skill tree)

3. Dont get too close

4. lrm the **** out of it.

5. stand on its head!!!

6. Snipy Snipy

7. See how much armor they have on them there legs!

8. Use quick alphas, not duration damage. it has ultra autocannons. (dont sit there trading damage back and fourth.)

9. Apparently It has a massive center torso, Some good alphas to the center should do the trick

10.

Currently non-purchasers have little idea about the Kodiak's loadouts--except they know it packs big damage. Which is why they shy away from engaging it directly. Sure, if a lance gets the drop on the Kodiak, it can go down with focused-fire, but when one or more is staring at you? You are gonna have a bad time. Why die in seconds when you can stay back and get some C-Bills? ;)

I've encountered an unusual amount of stupidity in quick play today (even more than usual for solo queue).

In one of my matches on crimson strait, alpha and beta lances decided to chase a Spirit Bear and Cicada literally around the entire mountain. Us 4 Kodiaks in charlie were left behind to fight the other 10 enemies.

The entire team saw the collection of doritos right near us, and I called it out...but they decided to chase squirrels anyway.

In general today has not been a good day for quick play.

Along with twisting (and nearly turning) just as fast as Medium Mechs, but carrying twice the firepower

That's something to be cautious about (some variants more than others)

Its like they turn off the tier system every time they release a patch

Im literally getting nothing but loss after loss!!

This is driving me nuts! how is this possible?

New patch tends to bring in players who were absent for a while. Naturally they will be rusty.

Speaks volumes about the Spirit Bear, when a 100 tonner can act as a squirrel. Posted Image

To be fair, the 8 of them did manage to kill the Spirit Bear. Unfortunately, that was all they did and I got the only other kill that game :/

But yeah, at this point I'm about 90% sure I'm going to buy the Spirit Bear. I've never been too interested in Atlai due to their speed; as primarily a solo player (outside of CW) I've come to know that very slow mechs get left behind often. The Spirit Bear seems like the perfect compromise, at least for quick play.

I could use that $15 for something else though, so you have any horror stories to tell me that would make me not want to buy it?

It's easy, all those players just need to get their own Kodiaks.

Theres not enough people playing to sustain a 70% assault queue. there isnt even one to sustain a 50% heavy queue. Theres like 1000players logged on steam, double that with people not on steam and thats a hard job for the match maker.

Depends. Are you good at brawling? If yes, then the SB is a good buy. $15 for a newly released 100 ton Hero is a great deal, when you compare it to MC prices. A 100 ton Hero with 400 XL, such as the Boar's Head, costs $34.5 in comparison.

I actually see more KDK's back peddling then any mech out there, dual gauss and erppc builds that are too scuured to fight.

Its a brawler, get in there and slash em up.

You're getting grouped with T3s and T2s.

Tier means nothing other than games played, and potatoes will eventually float upwards right into your drop queue. Unfailing. Without a doubt.

What, did you think it was actually there to make MATCHES? The eventual result of a PSR system biased massively to gain is, without fail, putting everyone in the same games together regardless of skill.

Now go play some more, you'll find such meta builds as the quad LB-2X/ERSL mastercrafted Kodiak I watched die in a hail of lasers as he tried to outgun a Cicada. :)

Best strategy is play dead, or actually die.

You're not countering it.

The popular strategy seems to be rushing the tunnel on Frozen. I've seen some players from reputable units wasting time with the most bizarre flanking today. They should know better. I don't know what the hell is in the water lately, maybe Kodiak piss.

all my kodiak kills today have been done in light mechs. get behind and take down like any other assault.

ive had a much harder time keeping my kodiaks alive long enough to be significant.
