I view the KDK-5 as sorta like an EXE...with double the energy hardpoints. A very popular EXE build is UAC20 LPLAS, 5ERSLAS. Very heat manageable. As some other have done here, I modified that build to the following - KDK-5 with UAC20 cooldown module and ERSLAS cooldown module. Once the third module slot is open, I'll add the ERSLAS range module to it.
This runs extremely cool if you don't alpha, but wait the half second or whatever to prevent ghost heat from triggering if you like to 1-2 punch with the arms, or you could do what I do so you don't even have to think about ghost heat - I just rotate the fire groups to prevent ghost heat - right arm, right torso, center torso, left arm, right torso, right arm, center torso, left arm, etc. I only ever alpha for a perceived guaranteed kill shot. Like the Executioner, this is more of an assister on a push instead of a push leader with this build if you can make sure to position yourself as the second or third mech in a push. That way you can maintain the greater face time needed to focus fire components of the main target in a push. You'll be able to sustain dps extremely well in those situations. If you get stuck as the main pusher, make sure to peel off to the left or right asap so that some of the light, more burst damage mechs can assist you in focus firing. Nothing screws a push as badly as the main pusher charging straight ahead and blocking fire lanes for those behind him.

Here is one similar to Steinkriegs:

Or
Pink Eye!
And
Yeller Eye! <-BTW, medium lasers at the feel of SPL! (23 heatsinks)
U Yeller Eye! <- With UAC10 instead of LBX10 and 24 heat sinks!
Ole Yeller / 2 <- 10 ERMLs
Coup de Bear! / 2 / 3

It's for close range multi strikes. Harder to do but fun. Flamers to disable quickly. Put on Cooldown and Range for the Small pulse lasers. it seems like less damage, but with how the SPLs fire it won't make much of a difference.
