So there is a MASC bug that is really annoying. sometimes when using masc, whatever direction key you are using (S or W) your mech will get stuck and be permanently going in that direction, even when not touching the keyboard. if this could be fixed that would be awesome

Anyone else having this issue?

I had a similar bug when I was using an old keyboard (10+years). A key would occasionally get stuck, but it wasn't pressed down. With my new one I haven't had that happen. "Might" be something with older keyboards, but I don't really know.

Nope. I use a joystick with analog throttle. What annoys me about MASC in MWO is the cooldown working like an overheat scale when in fact and TT rules MASC is on or off, there is no cooling off state. IN MWO you can turn MASC off and it will still destroy the mech's legs for 5 seconds. That's incorrect.

Have never experienced this problem on my Shadow Cats, but haven't really played them much the last month.

This is a Windows issue that's been around for years and years. Under certain circumstances, a key can get "stuck" because the OS doesn't recognized that the key has been released. It isn't a physical problem with the keyboard, it's that the key release wasn't detected by the OS.

It's simple to fix - simply press the key again. Since the OS already thinks the key is pressed, the press won't register, but the release will register and "unstick" the key for you.

Gentlemen, I have found the solution to this MASC bug. So annoying. Just alt-tab out and back in, the bug will be gone.

Is this "getting stuck" by any means acompanied sometimes by a windows sound? or any rare sound at all?
because it is a common windows problem with some keyboards, or if you are using windows 10.

Try going to your hardware and devises, look for the advanced settings of your keyboard and USB ports, and uncheck and option that allows the system to "automaticly power off" (or turn off) a devise to "save power" it comes by default with Windows 10, and its awfull, i belived like for a month that the game was bugged when it was not

I changed my push to talk button so now whenever I use the mic and masc at the same time my mech gets stuck going forward. Turning off masc or hitting full stop dont work I just keep going forward. you can do it again using masc and chat and backwards and go in reverse for the whole match but that's even sillier. Not sure why it happens but it does.

nope does not work for me.
I get stuck with full throttle quite a lot if I use a MASC mech and use MASC alot in the battle
none MASC mechs NEVER have this problem.

The worst type of this bug hit me when I had to run in cycles as I got stuck on [W] and [A]

things I tried
- using W and A again
- using S and D will let you do as expected but if you release the keys you are back in the W-A turn.
- using 0-9 to set a fixed speed ( lower than the full WWWWW)
- using X to do a complete halt

no of which got me out of the W-A cycle.

All I can do if that happens is die and wait for the next match.

If you have resently switched to Windows 10, it can be a system default option that "powers off" some peripherals in order to save energy, this not only does that, but sometimes, when you push more than 3 or 4 keys at the same time, for some reason leaves the last key you pressed active, as if it was still being pressed.

I had that problem and solved it by turning that option off:

Go to Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Devices and Printers

Right click on your USB Keyboard, go to Properties, then the Hardware tab

Highlight USB Input Device (this is the part that doesn't show up under Device Manager) and click on Properties. Click on Change settings.

Go to the Power Management tab and uncheck 'Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power

hi all, had this problem , searched for soliution and found one that worked for me:

in one forum found info that mechs movement gets stuck when keyboard changes input language when you in middle of game ( probably some key combination changes input language ) - i had 2 languages on keyboard, somehow in middle of game it switched palces all time and thats when i get movement bud

SOLIUTION: remove all languages from windows taskbar and leave only 1 ,go to windows settings and find language - remove additional languages . ( on default you can see letters exp.: ENG or RUS on right side bottom corner near watch and date indicator on you desktop - if you leave only one language then letters disapear and thats how it should be ) that helped me- no more movement bug .

This sounds like GOLD to me . I was frequently experienceing the MASC bug, and your post even gave me the IDea to chck whether I had alternate Keyboard languages installed . Sure enough I did, and removed the one alternate . Will find out sonn enough whether it solved the Problem , and then post here to confirm .

Thanks much in advance !

Never had this problem in my Shadowcat or my the couple of games I played in my Loyalty Cataphract. I did have an issue a little while ago where this was happening with or without MASC and I discovered that a drop of some sort of sticky beverage or something had found its way underneath my S key and was physically not allowing the key to come back up after I released pressure. I pried the key off my keyboard and wiped up the sticky stuff, which I believe was dried pepsi, with a clorox wipe, stuck the key back in its socket and good to go.

TL;DR: Have you made sure there is nothing in your keyboard causing your key to physically stick?
