[Gibson Ibanez]

I am a newer player and I bought two Battlemaster mechs after saving up my cadet bonuses. I own the 3M and the 2C. I read you need three mechs to move onto the higher skill trees with each mech. My question: Is the Hellslinger hero worth buying for my third Battlemaster, or should I just spend cbills on another variant and buy mechbays? I want to help the guys at PGI pay the bills one way or another.

Do not buy any hero mech that has a Mastery pack. Case in point: BLR hero $36, BLR Mastery pack that comes with hero, 2 other variants, mech bays and 30 day premium time, $35.

The Mastery pack is almost always better.

Or spend the money on a $20 mech pack that comes with 30 day premium time and use the CBills earned to buy the last BLR variant. Warhammer is a pretty good mech pack to buy

Good advice, generally, though I'd say it only goes for paying full price for heroes. They do go on sale for 30-50% off and it's been a while so hopefully it'll happen again soon?

OP: I love my Hellslinger, one of my favorite PUG cash printers.

4LPL, STD335 or big XL. It doesn't have the best quirks for it, but they're good enough.

Hellslinger was my favourite Mech for a while. But after I'd driven the 2C I couldn't really go back to it.

You're not wrong. The 2C is pretty gross. The Buffmaster!

And I have to admit that my view of the current state of some mechs drifts off since aside from leveling, I don't actually end up driving much that isn't a light.

My Hellslinger is great in Pugs. 6 MPL 3 LRM5 rest in DHS and non-XL engine. Generally try to get in fairly close. The LRMs are just for something to do while on the way, or to when Lights run away on an open field. SRMs are great but it is hot already with the MPLs. Up to you which missiles to run.

I use to pilot the Hellslinger exclusively. For a while it was my main mech. I uses it with 4 LLas in the side torsos and will sometimes put some laser in the arms if I'm feeling like it. It is a great mid range unit but in CQC it's torso's moment range becomes a noticeable hindrance.

I can not speak to the effectiveness of other Battlemasters, as I don't own any others yet, but the chassis is a solid choice that fits nicely into any lance.

Also, the mech looks fantastic with a blue and gold paint job because Blue Dragons are awesome!

Thanks for the advice. I hope to have enough money for it and the Atlas pack. I like assault mechs.

Edit: I bought the Hellslinger. It completed the three I need to master them.
