You should google "Phenom II 955 + overclock". Tom's Hardware was able to get it over 3.8 ghz while remaining stable. Its a fairly comprehensive article.

Also check out the best videocards for the money article at Tom's. May is the most recent update.

If your board is AM3+ this is the one to run imo.
You can OC it to 4.85ghz safely, with a good cooler.
I don't have any issues what so ever running this or any other game, and with my H55 my temps never go above 55C at stock settings. Just blow the heat exchanger once in a while and good to go.

The only complaint I've had of this cpu is the stock cooler is garbage, but that's about par for the course honestly for any gaming rig. Swap out the stock cooler for at least an Enermax air to air... or H55 liquid cooler.

I've had this cpu for a little over two years now, without a single snag, or performance issue. My FPS is pretty steady at 60, in pretty much everything I play from Skyrim (with all the goody texture mods), to Tomb Raider, to MWO, World of warships, FF14, RIFT, Gal Civ 3 in 1080p, on high to ultra settings.

MWO is a cpu heavy game, and doesn't rely on the GPU at all.
I had a black edition phenom 2 quad core, and this cpu blows it away entirely. There's no comparison what so ever honestly.

I have an Asus m4a77td motherboard with amd phenom II X2 955 quad core processor at 3200 mhz.

My old gaming PC was AMD 1090T with a AMD Radeon 6970. Upgrading the GPU to a GTX 970 didn't make the slightest difference to performance. If you got an AM3+ board you might be able to upgrade to the new chipset, but Intel is the way to go right now

Any upgrade to that computer is moot at this point, you might as well just save what money you have and get a new system when you can. Any money you spend on that current system will pretty much be wasted.

Used HD7950 or HD7970.

way way more powerful than anything you can get new with that budget.

Granted you're gonna have to make sure your PSU has enough juice but that's on you.

thanks, I realize that my system is old, but it still runs the majority of titles. I'm not made of money, cowboys don't make loads of cash and I have to make do until the December after next when I sell some calves. This December's calves are spoken for already. Maxing out system specs on the system I have already is alot cheaper than a new system and will improve performance. Like I said, mwo plays fine, I'm more concerned with other games. A better gpu and more ram will help those. I have a power supply that was designed at the time to handle about twice the computer I have because I intended to upgrade in the future. I'll verify it can handle the new gpu before I put it in, or I'll upgrade that too. Thanks to everyone who posted constructive comments. Those that didnt, well there are always some lol. If anyone has other ideas too I'd love to hear em!

I should have mentioned, but I'd try to get one that was owned by a gamer instead of one that was used for crypto mining. The ones that were used for mining tend to have been worked way harder.

you should search for your target game - R6, not mw0. I did 2 upgrades for mw0 and confirm - single core performance (oc if safe) is most visible. I did i3-i7; 5570->750ti->780. your's 60fps are pretty good (who knows what did you sacrifice in quality but its up to u), - I stay at 48fps just for strimming purposes and feel I'm more lag(ping)-limited than by fps.
As for R6, check if you have proper soundcard. When I switched from on-board to hw sound processor (just SB-z) I realized my ears working. Sound hack is a weapon in R6.
BTW, 750ti was great upgrade, nowadays gtx950 is about the same (bukpervalue & future inv.); What I confirm - don't think of _new pc if you could buy 2d hand upgrade of top parts of previous era. When I switched from i3 to i7 of same age I got stable performance in any situation - no fps drops, everything is gliding and make me feel reliable. Cons. watercooling - it's up to you, but try to stay away from oc. When it is doable it isn't reliable if weather changes. Reliable oc is expensive comparing to just good top parts.
