Javelin1

(lasers are tonnage filler for SRM-4's in this case)

I don't see what's wrong with this. Some might complain "not enough ammo!", but honestly if you place your shots well, you won't need anymore than this. A lot of my SRM builds have lower than normal ammo. 139 kph + jj is plenty. Why would you need to go faster? Going 145+ means you make wider turns and that's not what you want.

I'm all for more light 'mechs in this game, so sure. I'll push the Javelin.

interesting part with the Javelin art is how thin a strip of the "mid torso" area is actually CT. It's arms won't protect the ST fro anything, but might finally make that interesting STD engine Light.

You know what they say, "Sneaky as a Javelin". PGI better not oversize the this 30 tonner!

better not give it any real mobility quirks, either then, if we wanna go by fluff

"The Javelin design has one other, less-known problem. With its torso-mounted missile racks and ammunition supply, the ´Mech´s center of gravity is too far forward when it is at full-load displacement. This tends to make the machine somewhat top-heavy and prone to falls while moving at high speeds in difficult terrain. (Treat this a +1 die roll modifier for falling whenever a Javelin is running through woods, rough terrain, or rubble). "

Ehh I feel like a light will never be anything other then hard mode in MWO if it can't mount a sizable XL.

don't care. Don't need more cookie cutter lights, or any weight class.

So you don't care that it would be objectively bad? This is for the most part a missile boat, it'd have almost no tonnage for weapons & ammo if you used a STD engine.

Some awesome Javelin artwork here from Soku before the name change. http://mwomercs.com/...vn-10n-javelin/

Yes, I don't care. Rather see them find some other way to make it work then simply have a humanoid oxide.

I was making a comparison to the Oxide, since that currently is the most popular SRM light 'mech. There really isn't anything else to compare it to that people will be familiar with besides maybe the Jenner IIC but what difference is that?

On the topic of standard engine light 'mechs:

Standard engine Spider, 3 med and ECM, 140+ kph, WORKS
Standard engine Panther, PPC, 2x SRM 4, 97 kph, WORKS
Standard engine Locust, (3 med) or (6 small) or (2 med 2 small), 165 kph, WORKS

Standard Javey is possible.

Only for energy config. SRMs and ammo takes a lot of tonnage, something the 30 ton Javelin cannot afford. Anyone can see that.

And anyone who doesn't run XL on a Spider sized mech, when there is spare tonnage to be used, is wasting so much potential. Std engine Locust and Spider? Noobtrap is what I will call it. Either too weak in firepower to make a difference, or not fast enough to compete with other Lights in their role.

For a 5D? Not really. Their max engine is already 255. 3 med and ECM is not much different from a slightly faster XL version with pulse lasers.

I personally think 10-15 more engine rating + more JJs + pulse lasers greatly help the 5D, over its Std version.

I don't run any of my light 'mechs without an XL. Not a single one of them. And I own every light chassis there is.
