It is readily apparent that tier 3 is composed of mostly 2 groups. one is a group of wannabe john wayne's and audie murphy's who are getting their team killed by not being a team and allowing the enemy team to steamroll their team by being off and doing their thing. the other group is people who actually work as a team and stick together. Sadly i am getting dropped with the former group alot instead of the latter and its kinda irritating.
one example of this happening is by allowing the whole body of the enemy force to slip behind them and when warned they tell you that you are full of it. Times like that i have a strong urge to call them every name in the book.

the same can be said for every Tier. Tier is an indication of how much you play. Not how well you play.

Most of the time, believe it or not there are people who

A ) never wanted to gain a tier so they purposely throw games to stay low <scum

B ) have been playing from the beginning but are too casual to ever do anything more than machine guns and derp lrm builds

C ) have been playing from the beginning but are too stupid or insane to ever change

D ) have been playing from the beginning but literally are that bad at video games, props for determination though.

E ) Never lose, natural born talent, 4.0 kdrs 2000 games played 3.0 win loss. These folks will be tier 1 in a matter of days once they start.

Correct me if I'm wrong but players in a certain tier are not guaranteed to be playing against players in the same tier, MWO's player base is simply not large enough to accommodate this.

The way it works is Tier 5, 4 & 3 are matched against each other if wait times become an issue. Also, Tier 3, 2 & 1 are also matched against each other, again, if wait times become an issue (which they usually are)

So if you are a Tier 3 player by stats, you have a chance to be both the big fish and the small fish in either pond. Thats why consecutive games might seem like polar opposites.

Again, I could be completely wrong but that was my understanding.....

I have noticed in tier 3 there are higher level players who should not be there or players who are deliberately throwing a game by standing in the open. I have also noticed people using cheats and i am working on getting screenshots. those cheats fall into 3 types. one is a targeting bots allowing critical hits even when you still have armor . Those criticals only require one hit to happen and then you lose all weapondry in a particular torso even though you still have armor. 2 people are using shielding to reduce or stop damage. This i have seen personally when 5 mechs was firing energy and ballistics into a jenner and the jenner did not go down even though the shield was being hit. 3. there are people using teleports that get them from point a to b up to a 100 yards awayin a single instant. I know it was not my link doing that bec it was witnessed by other people and we all did the report on that person for cheating. While i know some people are just very good and i concede that, there still remains some who cant be explained and who i will report if i think they are doing anything hinky.

The names wont change either lol.

Im often guilty of going alone and in any weight class and 50% of the times it works every time. Coincidently my win loss ratio has been stuck at 1 since the stat reset 3 years ago.

That is right, id like tier to be locked, just so people can see it wont change a goddamn thing. We just need new players to be playing with other new players if we dont want to lose them on the first day and this is supposedly what the MM is doing.

Mostly right, Tier 5 actually play with other Tier 5 players only, but the thing is that its very easy to get out of Tier 5 and into Tier 4 even though they are not ready for it.

Now Tier 4 is known by many to be a more fun and laid back Tier where you can run a derp build and do decent in, however, if you don't know what you are doing, like have not truly mastered torso twisting or having not figured out that standing still, being out in the open, or running off like Leroy Jenkins is a very bad idea then you WILL be punished, which also punishes your team because now they are a couple guys down, practically asking for a stomp. And this is only Tier 4 even.
In higher Tiers, the road to mount try hard only gets steeper.
