In game there's a menu called Titles/Badges. You can choose any title you have access to (through achievements/purchases)

Here is another question I seem to be having problems with.

The Quick Plays are simple, they are what they are. On Invasions or Defense,I'mm having a heck of a time figuring out what is what.

For instance, I just did a "Defense" yet we had to counter attack. And it was against a 12 man premade and was a little interesting. It seemed like they only had lights and mediums. And they hit the back of us on the way to the middle gate (which was down). Thinking this was defense I brought my Kodiak that I've put a standard engine in to add more firepower and armor. If is very slow but that does not matter as much on defense. And since I was bringing up the rear, I was the first one hit by several of the enemies light mechs.

I feel really bad about this one for as bad as we were getting killed, we had a chance. And I screwed it up. I snuck my Kit Fox (last mech) around one side and had Omega to myself. They all were chasing the rest of us out the middle are and left no one back.

I realized too late that I was on the wrong side of Omega. It seems like it normally faces toward the gates but this time, it was facing the back. Thus, the Gen was on the other side. I only got it half down before someone ran back and got me. I feel SO stupid. I could have been Luke Skywalker and instead, I was an idiot.

But Omega is one part I find confusing. Sometimes on defense Omega is everything but from time to time, it does not matter at all. And I cannot tell the difference yet some people know when we are in in the first screen. On one defense a guy called us all staying inside our drop zone. It was the map where the side gates are far apart and there is no middle gate. Instead, that is where the DZ is.

It seemed crazy but about half of us agreed with him and we all worked to keep everyone there. It is mentally hard for people to not want to poke or look around. But somehow we did it for over 12 Minutes and they finally came at us. Besides being an easy place to defend we also had our drops coming in right there and when one of them died, they were 4-5 minutes way.

But how did he know? How can you tell the difference between them? How do you know that "defense" is really a counter attack etc etc?

OK, I went with my Rank. And where are the cockpit thingies? I read where hanging one gives you 2.5% more LPs.

I looked under my profile and then contents and all i found was that i had a free Camo job on my Jenner, yet I paid for one....because I'm an idiot.

They were a reward for purchasing one of the Phoenix Packs. I don't think they are available anymore, but you may want to check in the Website store and see if any of other other Packs have something like that.

Well, the game does not do a very good job at explaining things...

You will fnd the cockpit items in the mechlab, there is a button on the left which says "Cockpit". I think you will not yet have the medaillon giving a boost to your LP earnings, though.

Here watch this. I need to redo this one it's a little old, but other than some changes to the layout everything works the same.

I need to look through all of it. I got a Jenner II pack I did not know i had which came with the Camo I needed and paid for, lol.

The bigger question is a couple of post up. How can you tell what a invasion or a defense really is?

It'll tell you on the bottom of the call to arms pop up. It also lists it on the planetary information screen.

When I saw the flags I had to check and sure enough, there is a flag of Lithuania. For 500 MC. And the things I "own" still cost 500 MC, lol. The only things that are free are the things from the MWO World Championship. Honestly, I can't make out targets now so I did not intend to put anything in my cockpit but it is cool.

if you own it and do not have it fitted to a Mech you will use the "spare" item without having to purchase it.

when you drop into an invasion mode match if you are defending you can do that by playing defence on the attack/defend mode or by counter attacking and forcing the enemy to abandon the base they recently took but have not yet been able to bring the defences online.

if you are in the attack/defend mode you will be able to see the gate and generator health bars, if on counter attack the only health bar will be for the omega, also if you are defending the base you will start pretty close to the base, the omega and/or the gate gens.
Opening up the battle grid (B by default) will let you see where you are, if you missed all the loading screens which also tell you which mode you have.

in the counter attack mode the omega is irrelevant unless the "attacking" team has the lead in kills, the "defending" team (those who wanted to attack) will win if the omega is intact or if they have the lead on kills, for the "attackers" (those who wanted to defend) to win they must both have the lead in kills and destroy the omega Mobile Field Base, you can totaly wipe out the "defenders" and still loose if you do not kill the omega, however destroying Omega does nothing unless the "attackers" have a lead in kills.

The attackers who want to defend...lol or the defenders who want to attack....

I'm going to look extra hard but I'm sure that the one i answered said "invasion" and under that "defending" and it was a counter attack.

Once you drop it is easy to tell what is what. So if you are counter attacking, Omega means nothing. What does it say if you are defending the counter attack so you know?

And in this case, is Omega the cannon or something else? Two-three weeks ago a guy told a bunch of us that we had to hit the windows of the Gens. We had no freaking idea there were windows. I often wonder if the guys dropping with me know that. I've been on a number of drops where a Gen has not been touched.

Given long enough, I'll write a "dummies guide to invasions" etc, lol.

if you get counter attack that means you queued for invasion mode and were assigned to an area which the attackers have already taken, if the attackers do not currently hold any territory on the planet you cannot get counter attack.

Defending your planet in invasion can be accomplished by preventing the attackers from taking a base or by forcing the attackers to leave a base they have taken.
It does make sense to me

I will address your question purely as a player in the Defensive queue and solely on Counter-Attack to avoid any confusion.

Invasion is the mode.

Defence is which side you are on in terms of that particular planet i.e. your faction owns it and you are defending it.

Whether it is a Defend or Counter Attack cannot be known until you join the Lobby. Look at the top and if you are a Defender and it says Defend, you are defending your base ... cannot recall what it says if you are counter-attacking as I rarely play the defensive queue these days if I can help it. However since there are only 2 options, if it does not say Defend, you are Counter-Attacking to retake the base.

Omega in Counter Attack is a mobile base like the ones you see in Assault mode in QP. However, it is a meaningless objective unless you are able to get ahead on kills as your objective is to get more kills than the opposing team AND destroy Omega.

Note: If you are in the Attack queue, Omega when you are Attacking (as opposed to defending against a Counter Attack) is the objective. Whether you are ahead or behind on kills is irrelevant.

P.S. If you have further questions on FP, I suggest a new thread in the New Player section or in Faction Play to avoid de-railing this thread.
