Heck, even tabletop didn't use anything but metric. Or any of the earlier MW games, for that matter. Not really worth the effort.

I doubt that a metric to US system number change would be of much use. I doubt that the maps are scaled so that a mech moving at say 35 MPH would look like what you see out your windshield doing the same speed in your car. And the weapon ranges don't really matter in a visual sense. You never look at the screen and think "hmm, that Caldera crater looks to be about half a mile away. Too far for my medium lasers." You don't do it in meters either. The HUD colors tell you in range or not.

And besides, the US military travels in "klicks" (kilometers), measures weapon ranges in meters, and accounts for fuel by the liter. Beer cans are still a solid 12 fluid ounces American though.

so what's the problem? you're doing some real life tests with autocannons and PPCs? because the unit in the game is just a measure. could be parsec or yolometers, wouldnt change relative application.

I once did the Canyon Network run in less than 12 parsecs.

Meh, there are a few reasons the U.S. still uses the imperial system for some fields and for less formal applications. It's kind of like saying giant bullet trains would be better than all these wasteful freeways, which might be true in and of itself, but replacing one with the other would require tearing out years and years of infrastructure.

More relateable maybe, is say I have to repair an old Ford or even an old fence in my backyard or something. If it uses imperial measurements, I'd be kind of screwed if I only had metric wrenches and such.

I mean, I get that technology is supposed to have deteriorated for several centuries...but I hope as a galactic civilization we've finally left feet and pounds far behind by 3051...

Or you just build the bullet trains alongside the existing ones. Problem solved!

NASA couldn't even get the metric to imperial conversion right. What chance do you think PGI have?

Note for those who live under rock or are to young, NASA crashed a probe into Mars due to confusion over which units of measurement different divisions were using. Massively epic fail that was.

Long story short, almost 2 years ago was the only instance of imperial measurement in the game, and even the American fans wanted it gone.

Only 1.5% of the countries in the world and 4.8% of the worlds population use the Imperial system. As a fellow murican I'd suggest you leave this archaic measurement system in the dust bins of history where it belongs.

Agreed. Using the imperial system has turned into some nutty form of patriotic pride in 'mericah. After all, if we use meters, we'll all suddenly turn into Europeans, which as we all know makes us all socialists who like high taxes, and we can't have that?! Posted Image

Yes, yes - I'm well aware of the lunacy in what I just posted... too bad that's exactly the type of flakiness I've heard used to defend the imperial system and other archaic nonsense that is too common in this country. If one's national identity and patriotism are dependent upon making backward decisions to stand out, that's a bad sign.
