Um ... I think some of you are idiots ... metric is not more than imperial. They are just units of measurements so when 10 kilometers is 6.21371 miles. If you put both of them on a map as a line for distance THEY ARE THE SAME LENGTH!!!

As for what unit of measurement to use I say metric because I do not want PGI to waist time on a feature that would be ultimately pointless.

Please don't bring that arbitrary nonsense that is the imperial system to this world.

Sincerly,

every sane person in the Inner Sphere.

Rumour has it that when Jinjiro Kurita ordered the Kentares Massacre, he actually wanted to eradicate an imperial system cult hiding on Kentares IV. He had never liked his father anyway Posted Image

I'm not really opposed, give an option to display speeds in furlongs per fortnight for all I care.

But in-universe measurements make the most sense I guess. And there's precisely zero chance a multicultural interstellar society wouldn't use metric. Already today all sectors of American society doing any manner of international cooperation (scientists, engineers, military etc.) routinely use metric.

Oh dear Battletech making Miles illegal. That's no fun.

Murican's use the Imperial system because we don't care to fit in and be a sheep like everybody else. And because MERICA that's why.

No. No Murican measurements in this game. If we are changing from metric I say we go old school.

Lets get biblical:
Speed must be in Cubits per atom.
All weights will now be in terms of Stone or maybe Truss.

The US military uses the metric system to measure distances. What's more American than the military?

^ This. As an engineer I'd rather being using the metric system too, and would rather not deal with the imperial system anymore.

1/10ths, 1/100ths, 1/1000ths, etc are so much easier than 1/4ths, 1/8ths, 1/16ths in every situation!

WWI primary location Europe (metric)
WWII primary location , Europe, Asia, Africa (metric)
Korean War primary location Korea (metric)
Vietnam War primary location Vietnam, Cambodia (metric)
The various wars and military actions in the Middle East (metric).

Every location our military has been needed has been in countries using the metric system...so of course our military would adopt in order to be effective where the wars are bound to occur.

I can't believe this post warranted this many responses. Let me add another.

There's no reason to convert from Metric in this game because it doesn't matter. The game has always been metric, and metric conversion is easy anyway. Learn to round.

So then why haven't we, as a nation, adapted to this almost universal system when our military has so often? I wonder how many billions it'd cost to change every road sign?

100 kph is a far scarier number than 60 mph

Yes, yes it is. When im playing the Euro Truck sim and I had it in KPH, I had that truck going 80KPH, it felt like I was speeding so bad, I always ended up going like 60KPH....I just then found the MPH setting in the options menu haha.
