The Phoenix Hawk on the other hand, does hold interest for me, if your a purely nostalgic reason...
I got into CBT from watching Robotech/Macross, so to have a VF-1S Strike Valkyrie, well even if she can't transform, I'm still happy. I am under no illusions that it will be a meta god mech, but I don't play the meta game anyways, I just play for fun.

If you're good with both, get the Cyclops, it has a better deal considering $20USD for 3 Assaults as to 3 Mediums.
Oh and always get the hero on mechs that are >Heavy. you're bound to get a good deal out of them.
Example:
Kodiak hero costs $15USD. Atlas hero costs $30USD+.

If the battle computer has a wide range and significantly increases targeting performance, having one on your team could be game-changing. But if it has a 90-meter radius and increases radar range by 10% it'll be essentially useless.
I highly recommend not pre-ordering the Cyclops. It's just too risky because it's entirely dependent on a brand new system that we know nothing about.

That falls short of the Kodiak's value.

Phoenix Hawk... well, if you don't want it for nostalgia reasons, there's the fact that it is not likely to be worse than the Vindicator. Still, it should have the speed necessary to give it a good compromise between the speed of the Cicada and the firepower of Cents and Hunchies.

If the KDK is your standard, you're going to be hard pressed to buy another pack ever. (Maybe a good thing but...)

Didn't order Cyclops.
Ill get them for CBILLs if this game is still around then and they are good. The most interesting PH builds are the standard ones anyway not the hero's.
No more Shifty dollars for PGI until they actually make FP worth a damn.

And it has that sensor suite that seems like it has interesting possibilities..especially if it helps bap range lol.
Otherwise... all of the srm and laser vomit forever.

Well, probably more like almost the speed of the Cicada with almost the power of the Hunchback. Its a bit too small/light to run big ballistics (if it can even mount an A/C20), and even with 1 variant having 8 energy, it is still shy of the Hunch 4P.
Also, the Cicada frequently does 130 ~140 kph and I can't see an effective build on a PXH reaching those speeds while still carrying a useful load out. I would guess most PXHs will tend to fall between 100kph and 120kph. I know there is a variant with MASC, but it still can sustain higher speeds for any real length of time.
And that isn't even talking about the high hard point locations of both the Hunch and Cicada vs the PXH (amongst other things).
I think the smart thing is to wait and see before buying tge Phoenix Hawk. Like others said, there are no bonuses for buying preorder right now, so might as well wait and see if it is really worth it.

Any clue what the mech in part 2 is? The one the Cyclops is dealing with? I didn't realize they were bringing 4-leggers into the game.

Good speed, great jumping, some ECM - potential for some interesting builds - should be an...interesting mech. All depends on quirks. I'd expect it to be agile.
