I once did a test. I had a guy with a catapult sit at 200 meters. I shot him with my mad dog. When he had ams it took him 9 seconds longer to die than without (roughly 30 missiles). It took 1 extra launch to kill him without artemis. The amount of weight artemis takes is better off used for more ammo. Just some food for thought for those that think ams is great against clan mechs or that artemis is something great for lrms. I don't use either of them and have never had occasion to miss them. Now for srms, artemis packs a noticeable difference.

as Stated by others in this topic,
1) c-LRMs have Greater Spread,
2) you have to have Several c-LRM Launchers or AMS will eat most of your LRMs,
3) IS-LRMs are more Reliable when it comes to Moving targets because of Volleys,
4) be cause of stream fire c-LRMs give the target more time to get to cover negating damage,
5) light mechs moving +140kph being fired at by c-LRM15/20 are nearly safe as nearly all will miss,
all this i think helps to balance IS-LRMs to c-LRMs, though the whole LRM system needs a rework,

Inner Sphere LRMs weigh twice as much as Clan versions and take up almost twice as many slots...
So, are IS LRMs really balanced to be twice as good as Clan LRMs?

2 x 0 is still 0, so I guess they are twice as good?

From what I've seen, the Clan LRM's with their stream fire are even less effective than IS ones. I don't know how their missile group or scatter compared to the IS ones (do they go more for the center of the mech or not), but they do seem to be more vulnerable to AMS (not sure if that's an actual fact though - how AMS works vs. missile clumps is odd), and they definitely require you to hold the target lock longer to get the whole stream on target vs. just firing a big missile cloud in one burst. It's not too hard to lose a target lock, especially when so many foes have Radar Deprivation, so yeah... while I sometimes see IS missile boats, it is very rare to see Clan ones in Tier 3, and even then, they seem to have limited success.

Lulz at the x0 jokes, folks. Most of my ride to T2 has been in missile boats and the Archer is my waifu, Orions my husbando, and I have been known to hear missile launch SFX in my dreams.
Not using Artemis and basing your results on shooting stationary targets? Tsk. Artemis also ups your odds of hitting thanks to better tracking and quicker lock-on, meaning you not only have less time needed to get your missiles airborne, they're more likely to have those missiles follow along properly and not end up eating nearby dirt instead of armor/structure. The only case where the tonnage cost isn't worth it is LRM 5's, and that only because they're so tightly clustered that Artemis only really adds tracking.
Clantech LRMs do indeed degrade more to AMS simply because the AMS gets more engagement time from initial first missile to AMS envelope to last missile impacting- the aforementioned stream vs clump. It also means AMS buffs generally get more mileage vs. Clantech as well, even though missile health is identical.
(The Clan NARC blows the IS one out, however. Pure and simple.)
Also, Clanners generally have their best "pure boats" in the medium range- namely, the Stormcrow, while IS ones due to heavier launchers fall in the 70-80 ton range.

IS LRMs are way better. Here's proof:

Ah, the "Oops we added a few zeros to the quirk" 1000% cooldown quirk bug from a while back.
Which was hilarious.

It's more like 167% better. Technically IS LRMs will use much less ammo. I get better results from IS-ALRM 40 than I do from Clan ALRM 55 using a mix of LRM-15's and LRM-10's

wtf is up with the whines about clan LRMs being OP?
When clan LRMs fire, they steam out of the launcher rather than being fired in one single group. AMS is a lot better at shooting down clan LRMs and it's easier to twist and roll the damage because they don't all impact at the same time like IS LRMs.
