This post is exactly as the title explains. I'm sure there are many players who would prefer Miles Per Hour as opposed to Kilometers. Same with Feet/Yards, is there an option for that and I've missed it or is there not one? If not there really should be an option for it.

so what's the problem? you're doing some real life tests with autocannons and PPCs? because the unit in the game is just a measure. could be parsec or yolometers, wouldnt change relative application.

...This would be a waste of what precious few resources PGI has and there's very little reason for it.

The problem is I don't like Kilometers, I'm used to Miles for speed and Feet/Yards for distance. And if boxes of cinnamon toast crunch were used to measure distance in this game it wouldn't work out very well. And surely PGI's finances aren't that terrible. At least I hope not.

Only 1.5% of the countries in the world and 4.8% of the worlds population use the Imperial system. As a fellow murican I'd suggest you leave this archaic measurement system in the dust bins of history where it belongs.

Heh,

Only if we all agree that from now on, we all have to drive our mechs in the left lane, and we switch the steering wheel to the other side.

Oh dear Battletech making Miles illegal. That's no fun.

Murican's use the Imperial system because we don't care to fit in and be a sheep like everybody else. And because MERICA that's why.

The last one trying to implement the imperial measurement system in the BT universe was Stefan Amaris.... Look where that got him.... BTW... Speaking of MERICA.... Don't you have to plan building a wall or something?

Only three countries in the world have not adopted the metric system by now. Myanmar, Liberia and........the USA.

1975 US congress passed the "Metric Conversion Act" to increase the use of the metric system in the USA. So you had 41 years to practice what is standard in the rest of the world...

Here's why the Fahrenheit scale, at least, is still in use:

F: 0 = it's cold outside, 100 = it's hot outside
C: 0 = it's cold outside, 100 = dead
K: 0 = dead, 100 = dead

is not in any way related to counterclockwise running in caustic, but i did always play Nascar 2003 with miles per hour. never asked Papyrus team to add metric system. would just be bad and lose the real feel.

I think you misunderstand. The resources I had referred to was their manpower. They can only do so much with as few employees and computers as they have. Why do you think FW Phase III took so long? Why this mech rescale is such a large and lengthy undertaking? Why there are STILL balance problems and a few other issues with this game? I'd rather those be fixed first and foremost before we implement an American measurement option.

I know the conversion can be a bit confusing at times but it's easy to learn and as another poster said, it doesn't really matter which system they use.

And it'll be a HUUUUUUUGE wall! Over 10 meters tall! Tens of thousands of kilometers wide!

At least the autocannon calibers are straightforward....would you like the option to change to traditional style calibers?

Autocannon 30-06
7.62 x 63
7.62 x 39
.308

Autocannon Savage 10 Clan

IS Magnum 20

It would honestly throw me for a bigger loop seeing ranges and stuff in "feet" and "yards". I might not know the conversion rate, but I know the ranges as per "meters" and "KPH".

Likewise, when I play Euro Truck sim 2.0, it throws me for a loop to see "KPH", so I swapped it to MPH, as per American roads, using MPH.

THen if I was to fly a plane sim, seeing my plane flying in "MPH", I couldnt do it. 90mph is take off speed, but that would throw me for a loop, since stall speed is 180kph in IL2 for most the planes. So yeah. Lets just keep it the way it is.

And this kind of logic is why quite a number of people think Murika is a giant stumbling block to further human evolution.
