MLX-C
MLX-D
MLX-A
This is how I run things.
You can't bring much firepower if you bring the ECM arm off the MLX-C so just don't
You almost always have to shave some armor to fit weapons

its not as fast as most lights or nearly as powerful as others,
you can make it work as long as you dont let your self be targeted,
the most important thing for a MLX Stick to cover,
Cover for a MLX is anything that can hide you, including team mates,

I've tried it with some success. It's alright, but I have my adder for the ppcs. Was hoping for maybe some missiles but man this little guy is tight on weight and shaving armor off just feels so wrong lol

Most reliably effective was the standard 4x ERML.

4 small pulse
4 ML
All fun...until something farts in your general direction and your arms come off.

2x cSRM2 + 3x cSPL
2x cMPL + 2x cSPL
I usually scrape armor to get one more cDHS in.

cERML no longer have the range that made this work as well as it used to, so you take a lot more damage with that burn time and, in my experience, it's really a wash vs. the close quarters builds. They play dramatically different, can't use the same mindset with cSRM/cSPL that you would use with cERML. Find a big and stick to him. Be his attack drone.

That's why positioning is so important. I mastered the last two after the range changes, it can still be done, but is admittedly more difficult.

Admittedly, I still play my 4x cERML MLX more than the rest, but I wouldn't say it's objectively better.

Maybe I'll have to give a short range one another spin. I just hate how easy it is to do nothing wrong and lose half (or all) of the mech because of the crummy geometry and slow speed.

Really no. The COM is potentially the fastest mech in the game and the MLX is badly under speed for a light. They take radically different approaches to play.

PPC+ECM
3xSRM+cERSL
3xCErML+NARC
2xCErSL+LB2X (requires armor loss to get that 1.5T of ammo)

Ironically, the Mist Lynx is actually a few KPH slower than it should be.

You can use a PPC-MLX completely different than a PPC adder:
The Adder is more like a tiny assault.
The MLX is a sneaky hit&run ba$stard, jumping up stuff, sniping from above (rhyme not intended, but funny

If you catch the right situation, you laugh assaults in the face, PPC them even at close range until they die and they won't ever have a chance to shoot back.
But then again ... everything the MLX does the ACH does better.
Poor MLX
