As it is now - it seems like there is no much difference between the different factions of Clans and IS, and player choises depends only on their own tastes in Lore (if they have them, and knows what's going on in BT universe) or current situation on the map. For many people, i think - there are no point in playing for the Clan faction with less population an who have already lost their territories and got no FP activity, just as for IS factions that have no frontline with the clan factions and are forced to fight only another IS factions or just help them to defend against Clans.
If all goes that way, then it looks like FP will soon come to the point i already saw a few times here on forums: to just merge all the Clans and some IS factions togather and get this over with.
But i think there should be some more or less easy ways to make all that faction difference mean something, and with that - also bring back the global activity to FP (honestly i miss good-old days from 1st to 2nd Tukayyid).

As an example that i can see right now: give different factions their specific bonuses that applies to players account that depends on the current allegiance, like quirks that will benefit some mechs and/or technology that are close to that faction. Like quirks for the Timber Wolf - that works for player till he's with the Clan Wolf faction, Ebon Jaguar - for the Clan Smoke Jaguar, Atlas - fot Steiner, etc. As for the weaponry - there can be specific quirks like heat or velocity for PPC, bonuses for some type of rockets, beam or ballistic weapons, based on the faction specialisations, fight style or preferences from the lore.

What it can give?

- Much more strategies from different factions - based on the boosts on their specific mechs and weaponry, much more variety of mechs and builds.
- Give solo players and units reason to choose some one specific factions from another that will benefit their gamestyle or favorite mechs.
- More activity on the FP map and maybe the solution of current Merc/Loyalist inequality (if make mercs bonuses from factions stable, and loyalist - boostable that depends on the player's faction loyalty level).

P.S: Well, that's just my point of view and what i think right now, maybe someone also have some fresh ideas about current FP factions state, and what can be done without the large amount of work from the Dev's side for those factions to start mean something more significant than they are now. Anyway, maybe it'll be worth of their attention...

Ah if only we had developers that can read and absorb more than 140 characters at a time. Oh yeah, and cared.

Start of another idea, to be buried alive forever. Want to buy a mechpack?

Could you please repost this in a shorter version on Twitter, so Russ has a chance to read it?
