I Do Worry About Pve... Not That It Would Be Unfun, But That It Would Render The Pvp Queue Empty.

It's years out at best, and probably a position at the time. Even if it existed, it probably wouldn't be very compelling for any length of time.

you'd think they were officed here in Mexico, not Canada. Mañana Mentality. And heck, can't even get a "soarry" from them.
How long have they been dangling that PvE carrot any way?
I have been here over a year and that carrot has been around since at least then.
So what? 2 years?

actualyl as a "realistic" goal, a year-ish, tops.
That said, with them hiding back under Fortress Piranha, might as well be 20 years. Or never.

If we ever get PVE, and I expect it will take years, then I'm worried that it's going to make MW2:Mercs and MW2 missions look like they were directed by Steven Spielberg and Christopher Nolan, with the script written by the Coen brothers based on novels by Cormac McCarthy. I'm worried that PGI's PVE mission will be like a combination of the current super-cheesy Academy stuff "watch it soldier, shiny brass backside, lolol" and the Jester hero mech "lore" about the rambunctious young female pilot who broke formation as a way to get back at her parents. <shudder>
EDIT: Trying to keep my expectations low, obviously. PVE would be a big deal for me, but I don't dare to dream about a proper campaign.

If it's more fun, I'll play it more. If I can mod it, I'll make it fun.
In all seriousness, not trying to be an ***, do we honestly think PGI is even capable of building a rich, deep and fun PvE game. Seems like their track record dictates it will be sub-par...

PGI forced people to play PvP? Did they put a gun to your head? LOL! LOL! LOL!
MWO was advertised as a purely PvP game. Full stop.
There is a very good reason no publisher wanted to support another PvE Mechwarrior game.

Has it ever occurred to you that if you spent half as much time trying to git gud as you do cryharding about the meta, clans, cheaters or other players who are clearly the devil incarnate because they killed you as opposed to you killing them with your lore build (effective at any rangeTM.) that you might one day make it to the hallowed halls of T3?

I believe it would help the game, new players will try pve first, get told how good they are versus crippled AI while practicing, learning and getting better at the game and then move to pvp where it's at.
BF series had to include unlocks in PvE for me to even play it. I think I just never unlocked some of them just because PvE is stupid. Plebs and roleplayers eJerk to PvE.

You clearly have mistaken me for someone else. I don't complain about meta, I don't use Lore builds and I'm almost T2. The reason my Tier (aka XP bar) isn't higher is because the only reason to play consistently is to level up a new 'mech and I bought only 1 new chassis in the past year. If I played 4 hours a day everyday I'd be Tier 1 in a week or less. "Getting Gud" has nothing to do with it -the game is just boring as hell and only good as a filler when there's not enough time to play a real game.

Perhaps there would be a temporary dip as all the existing players complete the campaign, but that would take a couple weeks and then they would return to PvP afterwards along with some of the new players that comes with PvE release.
It's incredibly hard to be satisfied with switching to AI opponents in a game when you are used to human ones, at least for me. I would probably try the campaign...if it was cheap...and had a good story...but there is no way I would prefer the actual combat of a PvE game over PvP. But as I said I still want them to do it because of all the players who want it and because that would be good for the PvP game as well, even if I probably wont play it myself.

- PVE becomes popular, PVP dies.
- PGI gets the point. Starts working on single player campaigns.

This is the one thing I've wanted most for the past fourteen years. Tell me the bad part...

Again, you're mistaking one thing for the other. ForumWarrior is much more entertaining than MWO but they should have Tier separation here as well since you're clearly a Tier 5 ForumWarrior.

Question is always how it is implemented.
Most more expressed opinions I read wanted a real PVE-campaign like in the old MW games and not just Quick Play against bots.
So they could do it like COD, the PVE-campaign has simply no effect on the PVP-part and vice versa.
With the PVE-part independently from the PVP-part there could be even a different ballance, i.e., clan mechs are lore like and so on...
Sure it's more work, but Itinke most would appreciate it that way.
