Please.. enough with the damn macros, I prefer that this be a skill based game not a game based on gimmics and hacks. Please ban the use of these so that matches are fair not aimed to those willing to cheat just because they don't like the game's mechanics. If you don't like the games mechanics, there's the door, let it hit you on the way out.

ya they suck and should have never been allowed in the game.

A guy from HHoD is complaining about macros. Hmmm. If you don't like the game's mechanics that is fully allowed by PGI, there's the door, let it hit you on the way out.

Macro does not circumvent those. You still have to charge the Gauss and still have to fire set number of weapons to avoid extra heat. Macros make it easier.

Here is another reason most players have said FU we have had enough of the BS from rude players like Bandito to the gods of MWO and have left the game.

The gods of MWO don't care players exploit and hack and basically kill comp play and the other game modes any player wants to try and play clean and on skill alone get eaten alive.

Just face it MWO it done and the gods of MWO just want the game to die.

Nope. They're still banning cheaters.

Serious question. As someone who doesn't use macros and sticks with chain fire, what real benefit would they give me that proper use of chain fire groups and rapid clicking to get the timing going don't already give me? Just seems like 2 different ways of doing the exact same thing to me.

Please watch this video.

Yes, Macros are giving an advantage that no manual player without them has (start watching video at 4:38 and pay close attention during this time. Also, pay close attention to what is being said at time period 7:10 in the video). Yes, they should be banned.

He said the macro was cycling faster than the weapons can come off of cooldown, not that the macro was causing the weapons to fire faster than they would normally come off of cooldown.

You've simply misunderstood what Snuggles was saying there, and have built your argument around a misconception.

Macros literally cannot make the game do things that you can't do in normal use. All he's done is make it so that he does not have to click like mad. There are gaming mice that can do the same thing, without even installing Fire Control. Should those be banned too? The Steelseries keyboard that's built into my MSI gaming laptop has such software baked into it.

Just convenience and avoiding early onset of carpal tunnel.

If you watch the second video by the same player (that I posted above) you'll see that this isn't a significant difference. He does the same thing by using chain fire and a couple of weapon groups.

I don't personally use macros, but the complaints and misinformation about them are ridiculous. Chain fire is effectively an in game macro and no one is complaining about its inclusion.

I use macros for any UAC build just to avoid constant fury-clicking. It's annoying. This way I can just hold down the mouse and it will doubletap automatically.

I once tried an AC/2 boat and got blamed for cheating when I wasn't even using a macro, I literally just had my AC/2s on chainfire in one group and was rapidly clicking the button. Honestly, I've never seen a macro in this game that allows a player to do anything that can't be done within the game's already present mechanics. They're luxury items, nothing more.

It's an iffy topic. If you have good imagination, you can create pretty useful macros loading off big chunk of things that require to pay attention. Also to fire stuff like AC/2 at specific speed, turning it to literally RAC, you need to have it bound to several control groups into chainfire and have pretty agile fingers, while you can achieve same thing with marcos with single button click/hold.

Fire Control program is in free share, and anyone can use that. It will help players that run specific builds to create functionality that game have poorly implemented (TAG toggle/varying chainfire speed for specific weapon systems, etc). Load off some clicking work, and even regulate heat management at some extent without need to pay extra attention. It also can help great deal to disabled players, that cannot input specific commands.

Yes, it can give you an edge over other players, but not dramatic one, and only on very specific builds. Macros has a bad rep mainly from online shooters, where player can setup macro so, that his semi-auto weapon shoots in very accurate manner, literally in auto-mode, or make automatic weapons shoot in full-auto mode without any spread and recoil at all. MWO doesn't have these, thus macros isn't officially banned.

Another weird and funny example would be fighting games on PC. As players could setup pretty strong combos, that even pros struggle to pull off with perfect timing with pressing only one button on keyboard. If anyone played Mortal Kombat 9 on PC f.e., may know what I'm talking about, and yes, this is dirty cheating.

But as things stand, banning macros is literally impossible. For example, in Mortal Kombat X devs somehow coded for input not to recognize any macros software (I tried several for gigs), which is very good measure. But on client side, for most anti-cheat software it is very hard, to the point of impossible, to detect if someone uses macros or not, so shooters on PC get pretty cancerous in that manner. However, I wouldn't be overinflating issue regarding MWO, as currently, macros really do not provide players so unfair tools, to call it cheating in good consciousness.
