P.S. I found a reason to switch to "Counter" on my ECM.

When the enemy lights coming sniffing around our back, if they have ECM, they are very hard to target for everyone carrying missiles. So I switch to Counter and chase him until he is dead.

DING DING DING, we have a winner!!

Yep, things like that are exactly what Counter mode is for.

Works wonders, if you figure out how to use it right

It's bracket-y, but it's also like a double Anansi (I once mocked one up with an LPL and SRM4 >.>). Even better, there's a 2UAC2, 3cERSL Adder (the Gatler) out there. It's somebody's dakka therapy mech, and it's caught on a little for the lolz. Yours seems punchier.

Question: Any special reason you don't put the LPL in the shouders, and the SRM4s in the arms? I don't suppose it would matter in a Scout brawl, but a little less exposure in QP might be nice.

The only really viable ~100 kph clan lights for scouting are streak boats tho.

Yeah, you're probably right, but I have a bit of a jaundiced view of the mode since bereft of any matchmaker, it's pretty much PUGstomping with low tonnage so strict viability doesn't really matter.

100 percent this.
I took some of the lower tier members into some scouting runs. Nothing but pug freelancers. I was starting to feel guilty for showing up in an Oxide.

Right, which exactly why I prefaced things the way I did in the OP. Not as-viable-as-other-choices, so much as making the best of limited options. ;)

I think that Smash Kit would be fine with the amount of ammo it has in a Scouting drop, for what it's worth. For me, the "sleeper" factor for it is that it's gonna be a smaller and slippery-er target after it gets re-scaled.

Yes, other mechs do it better (SCR), but the point is to highlight ways to do something productive if the KFX/ADR/MLX/etc are your only (or preferred) options.

Remember, somebody's gonna bring it, Good Idea™ or not. :D

One word.

Cougar.

It's a modified Cougar Prime, with better armour and MWO safe short range punch.

It's fitting as the Cougar was developed off of the Adder platform.

Alternatively, this is the build I run in QP, and used to run in FP when I was clan.

ADR-PRIME

It is oddly effective, if you stick with the Medium/heavies/assaults....

Here's my sleeper pick though: SmashFox.

Ive run that build for probably over 150 drops pre-quirk. Its amazeballs if you got the steel and patience. Hiding behind teammates helps, too.

Okay, that makes sense. I tend to forget about the Cougar, because I'm tabletop-deficient.

No problem, I'm a bit of a stickler for Lore inspired/Super Stock builds myself because I've got a good grounding in TT.

You know, when I first ran it after getting my face caved in by several Clan Kodiak pilots, I was really nervy about it for 2 reasons.

I was used to relying on ECM to survive in the Kit Fox, and I wasn't a very competent SRM-user yet.

I learned to move intelligently, with a group, and pick my moments. It was a good step in the right direction for me in terms of skill-building.

For what it's worth, I like 4xSRM6A better on the Kit than the Adder.

I had totally forgotten we (CK) used these way back then, though I recall running them now that you say it. Weirdly, I'm pretty sure I was in a SMN in the scrimmage we played against you (SRPH then, right?).
