Hello all,
Just putting some feelers out to see if there is anyone interested in trying out some new things in a range of private matches, with the objectives being to see if we can find a different style of gameplay beyond the current deathball.
The proposal here is to run some matches using 3025 stock mechs (stock stock, not improved stock), reduced armour levels and no HUD.
That might be extreme, wild or just plain silly, but it's something I'm curious enough about to want to try.
The hypothesis is that the stock 3025 loadouts will slow down the gameplay through lower agility, inferior heat management, the reduced armour values might break the deathball and running without a HUD will decrease accuracy. Maybe through in some assymetrical game modes (VIP runs, one sided assaults, etc).
The result? We'll just have to try it and see.

People already do this on stock mech Monday's. Russ was supposed to add in an option in private matches to allow people to force stock as well.
I'm not sure if he ever got around to that or got confused about what was being asked for by the time he got home.

I've always wanted to get in on SMM, but timezones prevent it from happening.
Do they really run without HUD, or stripped armour though? Those two points are the main things I wanted to test.

How do you aim songle-shot Autocannons with no HUD? Stock TRO Mechs have high ROF Autocannons that fire bursts up to 200-300 rounds per firing sequence. You can walk that onto a target but you cannot walk a single ac20 slug... this would basiclally preculde firing at all while maneuvering.

Not really, it just takes some getting used to. There were several Phase 2 Community Warfare drops where when we faced an obvious pug drop we would turn our HUDs off and fight that way. You do miss more, but what I missed more than the targeting reticle was my mech state. It is a real pucker moment when you know that you are down a leg and you do not know which leg so that you can turn your dead leg toward the OpFor.

OP: I would like to try. My computer is shortly coming back from the shop finally, so hit me up.
BTW: Please check my signature for a proposal for a CW gamemode that does what you're suggesting.

Reduced armor levels meaning TT levels? How would that fit in with the triple fire rate and increased accuracy of MWO?
