Mon. July 16, 3049: Luthien Armor Works’ working on a radically re-designed Charger, the CGR-3K; hoping to redeem much maligned design.

You're 5 minutes late. ;)

And there's nothing a man could do to "redeem" that piece of junk.

Unless you double the number or power of those lasers while keeping heat under control, there's nothing that can be done for the ****** laser boat.

The 3K is an XL engine keeping it at 5/8 speed, using an LRM20 with artemis, 4 medium pulses, and jump jets.

Decent.

I'm afraid to ask;
is it that you guys are RP-ing, or do you honestly not know what's going to come from this?

Personally im a bigger fan of other reworks of the charger more, but this weapons package is still better then the small laser spam from its progeniter ;)

Partly RP, of course.

It still doesn't have 2 PPCs, SRMs and a cool design, though. ;)

Oh sweet Jesus, I love this design. I can't wait to buy one and NOT change it.

That's why I was afraid to ask, didn't wanna ruin it for anyone, but since that's already been taken care of... :)

Sure doesn't, but this feed sounds like a hint, doesn't it?
hm.... maybe I'm reading too much into it...
Anyway, what I don't get is, that the Hatamoto-Chi, which is supposed to be a fusion of Thug and Charger, carries exactly the same equipment as the Charger (at least according to sarna)... So is there actually any difference between the two aside of their designs?

Thug has 18 double heatsinks and Hatamoto has 18 single ones. Also, teh Thug's weapons do more damage, but we won't have dmg differences in MW:O. That means Thug is smaller, doesn't overheat and costs just over 100 000 C-Bills more.

As I said... junk. :)

My favorite Charger variant was the one the Liaos had in the 4th Succession War scenario pack. the 1A5 if I remember right - had an AC/20, two SRM-6s and a bunch of lasers. Pretty good close up, also they added a couple tons of armor and heat sinks.

Hmm.. a contradiction?

http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Charger

The Charger used during the War of 3039 didn't have an XL engine, only moved 4/6/can't remember, didn't have artemis & probably didn't have pulse lasers. As far as I can remember it was totally 3025-tech. But the weapons layout was basically the same as the -3K, so when the -3K came out, everyone thought the two mechs were the same.

Never rely on sarna. :)
