Had some issues with the game over the last few days and startet to play mechcommander 2 again.

So much fun.

The freedom to play my Zeus Posted Image in a balanced lance of AI teammates, the good missions with multiple objektives and the attempt of immersion by storytelling.

So much fun. Only my archer is missing Posted Image .

Does Anyone else enjoy to play the old battletech games from time to time?

did before I was forced into a Win10 machine...... now .... I can't. But I used to queue up MC2, MW3 and MW4, regularly.

I believe the omnitech guy is working on getting Win10 working with it (not sure if there were issues before) and possibly porting it to a whole new engine.

That'd be great. I actually did a couple designs for them, but drifted away because of some serious stress going on. I should look into it again. (the Flea redesign and the PPC i redid the concept art for... though IDK if they've switched up models in the last 4 years.

Bishop i play mechcomander 2 on win 10 in compatibility mode. It runs good. The only issue I experienced so far (mission 4) is an unexpected change to windowed view after the mechlab and befor the mission begins.
A click on fullscreen solved the problem for me. The missions running fine.

I was not able to get my CD version to work at all on my Windows 10 machine. I was able to get the Micro$oft version you download to work, but had major graphics issues.

Honestly I didn't work on it too hard and lost interest.

cant get it to load on my system at all. You use the free mechcommander gold download, or the physical discs? (I've tried both)

I'll retry it. Maybe some of the updates have made it more "friendly" in the last 4-6 months.

That's what retro gaming rigs are for.

if I even had a current gaming rig, I might consider building a retro one. Windows XP FTW! (well, maybe 98 for MW2 action also)

Good old MCG and MC2... le sigh. I've managed to avoid the forced Win 10 update thus far and aside from having to run a virtual drive and ISO, MCG runs perfectly. MC2 used to run, however my recent attempt at playing it for the first time in a few months resulted in it launching into a frozen full screen of scattered, colored geometric shapes... Most displeased. Always something.

I'm still enjoying playing the free release of MW4 MP3.1.

Runs fine on W10 without any modification or compatibility stuff (for me at least).

Download here: http://clancoyote.co...oad.php?view.10 (legal to download/install/play as far as I know)

I made a little MechCommander 2 campaign where you had to salvage all your mechs, no store. It's a scrappier style of unit maintenance. I used 256x256 detail textures which were 2x the default and this gets rid of any pixel edges. I still play through it every now and then. It has no end, but it wasn't really intended to end. One of the fun things about do-it-yourself campaigns.

Good to know. It won't run on Windows 7 pro 64 after MS's recent updates. I have to boot up my legacy XP computer to play MW4 mercs.

Sounds pretty excellent, I usually play with only what I salvage... Adds flavor. Wish there was more variety to be had though

Yep. Dang though. I just tried to start MechCommander 2 and now it doesn't work, but worked fine last year. Does MS do this on purpose? I paid them good money for the game when it came out. Oh well, better get used to running my old XP computer and refuse any updates.

By the way a known issue with MechCommander 2 graphics is the Vidcard.CSV and the BadCard.CSV. This was never updated and the game defaults to lowest graphic settings if it doesn't find your graphics card's code in the list. The old fix was to just remove the files (main folder). Not sure if this has changed though.
