Always did well in Trebuchets, and for no good reason I can find, I just love the 7K!
XL300, AC10 a couple of ML's and a pack of whatever missiles I feel like - good times! Not to mention anything I can cram an AC20 on is on my 'go-to' list. PPC's aren't too bad on it either, then I have an excuse to put MG's to save tonnage.

i got a xl250 or so in my -7k, dual ppc's + ac5 with 2 tons ammo :D it runs very very well somehow lol
i had pure troll build with 2 er large lasers to range poke from start, then run in with 108kph (i think it was a XL 300)
and bomb them with 2 srm4+ artemis and mg*s :D

i might buy a second -7k just to do that again ^.^

I've never owned a Trebuchet personally. Eventually I plan on owning and mastering one, but I'm working on my Atlas right now and then my new Phoenix Hawks are next after the Atlas. The reason I'm posting in this thread though is that I have a member of my unit who does so well in his Trebuchets that he brings them into FW as his medium 'mech of choice. Not sure what builds he runs, but he loves them.

I absolutely like the Trebs, the 7k and 3c are the ones I ended up keeping. I used to run a 7M like eve3ryone else, there was a time when the 7m was a very effective light hunter with medium pulse lasers, streaks, an xl-300 and 2 JJs.........but then they quirked it so heavily in favor of using lrms that the loadouts I liked were so un-optimized I couldnt justify using when theres just other mechs that do that style.

My 7k build rotates between AC/10+ 2 large or er large build (best game in that one was 6 kills and 1100 damage) and sometimes an attempt at Meta with a Gauss+ER PPC combo. It does that ok but no JJs kinda sucks

The Treb 3C is easily in my top 5 list of favorite mechs in the game.......its a mech that can mount an engine thats heavier than the actual chassis lol. I absolutely encourage the use of the aforementioned "Troll-Bucket"......it is far better at this than the Centurion-D which can also mount and XL-390..........I used to use the exact build provided earlier but I switched over to just 4 medium pulse lasers and I do a little better. Its obviously more pinpoint that way and runs a touch cooler as well, really fits the style of the mech and the shorter beam duration is advantageous/necessary when you are moving fast and trying hit components for full damage. I mean its a 50 tonner that literally runs like a light mech at 139kph.......with like 3-4 more tons of armor than a light and just enough firepower to actually hurt stuff. It torso twists as fast as your reflexes will physically allow........it looks like you are hacking almost running around like that. If you happen to actually excel at assassin style high speed/conquest/ hit and run harassment type playstyles then this mech can be quite effective.......probably not against a team of 12 t1s.......but Im t2 and can take it into solo q or even group play and do anywhere from 200-700 damage in it and I havent even played the game since May so its probably even better now after the scale adjustment.
