Warhammer and Grasshopper look bigger than the Warhawk and Stalker.

Okay..I'm starting to wonder what the designers were smoking when they decided how to re-scale these. The Grasshopper was already as tall as an Atlas. In fact, no mech, aside from another 95-100 tonner should be as tall or taller than an atlas. And also...

NO heavy mech should be as tall or taller than ANY assault!

I really hope when I look at the assaults next, they can't even entirely fit into the picture.

*Facepalm* Gawd I sooo want a mechwarrior game with out TT rules or lore fixed hardpoints. and preferably made by people who dont do stoopid s**t like this. amen.

I believe the games you want are Mechwarrior 2/Mercenaries then. You can do whatever you like with the weapons, but you still operate based on TT rules.

Seriously, you need to operate on TT rules, otherwise we'd have IS mechs running around with Clan XLs, weapons and Endo/Ferro, and in that case, why both even having IS weapons in the game?

Jesus people, think before you type some of this stuff.

The Catapult almost looks too small now, and the Jagermech just looks weird.

The upper legs of the new Grashopper... look at it from the side. Must have been some longstanding misuse of anabolic steroids...
so ugly...
Aaaand you just made the Jagermech a fat, slow kid. It looks disgusting. High Jagermech means high weapon mounts - that's okay. But it had huge sidetorsi which you can't protect with your arms - that had been it's problem.

Well, time to roll out with my Phracts again. Maybe my Ilya now better handles an extralight...

Seeing that even new Mechs like Black Knight, Archer, Rifleman, Warhammer had to been rescaled tells you tons about the processes in order in this company. I mean... how long are we doscussing rescales? For two years now? And even the new stuff hadn't been created adherent to the new rules?

OK, I checked the images a few times now...

I think the changes look very strong the first time you compare the images, but after checking torso/legs and overall profiles, they look quite good.

One thing tho that would be a very easy and quick change to the Grashopper:
Make the legs bend like the Jaegermech, so it's not as tall, but also has some real insect-like Grashopper stance.

Nice to see the Orion has relocated it's right knee cap.

It used to be a good 'mech...until it took an Arrow IV to the knee actuator......Posted Image

So the reason why we pilot mechs instead of tanks is because it's cool, regardless of how silly and unrealistic it is.
With that staid, the reason why we need to make some of these 36-70 ton mechs bigger than a drop ship is because of a realistic and highly mathematical analysis of mass to volume ratios of #d models based on 40 year old line art from budget book illustrators who had zero formal engineering training and were not, in any way shape or form, concerned with how the volume of their designs play into the balance of a 3D, real time, simulation .

I'm so glad that THIS is the aspect we obsessed over when determining we needed realism. Balance is hard but algebra is less hard so naturally PGI choose to surrender to mathimatics rather than use commonsense or pragmatic judgment when deciding what mechs were too big and too small.
