I like most everything about the new patch, love the new map icons and large map, few things irksome but livable. Except......THE NEW MINI MAP.


It is no good. Please give us back the old minimap

      • We failed to find the right spot default zoom level before going live, I accept that responsibility but we hope to hotfix later this week.

    Russ, you haven't even tried to coherently explain what this "new direction" is. Everything about the new map is worse than before. It's not a matter of zoom being slightly incorrect.

    "New direction" = not knowing where you're going because the map is impossible to read. Need to go to Gamma? Find a "new direction" that is directly opposite where you want to go.

    Russ Bullock , FYI , That is what the B button is for . play the game and you will see that pressing the B button brings up the map . no need for a silly zoom out button for the mini map .

    So other than the "zoom" on the mini map, I hope they bring back all the directional arrows too. Always nice to see which way the enemy and friends are facing/moving.

    I didn't read any of the rest of the posts here, so I won't beat this dead horse to death by stating more of what I'm sure has already been said.

    I wish Russ would really do the right thing. I wish he would get the balls to come into the forums, into these threads about the mini map, and simply say, "I'm sorry, I screwed up, and we should not have done this." And then make DAMN SURE THEY FIX THIS CRAP MINIMAP!!!!!

    This new mini map makes me want to puke, not from hate but actually making me dizzy and I can't even play this now.

    Whoever worked on the minimap, please undo the abomination you created.
    The original worked great, had friendlies location and grid marks.
    This new minimap is smaller full of clutter and annoying to use.
    It is not one or three steps backwards in usefulness but ten steps back. I rather not have one.

    These abominations and the rollback nerfs innersphere mechs keep getting with the lack of delivering on promises and request from the community is why I stopped putting money in the game.

    There is going to be a hotfix for the minimap as early as 5PM PST tomorrow according to Russ' Twitter.

    Too bad Russ does not have the balls or the integrity to come on the OFFICIAL FORUMS and tell us himself. F-ing coward.

    This minimap fiasco was all HIS CALL according to the Town hall video (Time 33-55 min). He SWORE "They will just have to live with it for a month." (His words). I guess watching people cancel pre-orders right, left and center changed his tune a little, but he does not have the BALLS to come on to the OFFICIAL FORUMS and admit he was wrong. He has to hide over in the Twitterverse like a chicken$h!+ little punk.

    I hope it isn't months I will not be playing unless the cockpit map is fixed. It is impossible to play as it is now. I pilot fast mechs mostly lights to heavies. The cockpit map gives a detailed view of buildings, terrain and other mechs for 500m surrounding your mech. This is a key to maneuvering your mech successfully while aiming and firing on an enemy mech. Especially with all the map glitches. In the lore of MechWarrior pilots had a 360-degree panoramic view of their surrounds that what made it possible to pilot. The old mini-map performed the same function PGI broke it and now you can't successful pilot your mech if there is any obstruction within 500 meters.

    The cockpit map was working fine!

    Actually, I take it back.

    I like the new minimap, because I used to bring up the main map alot to help confirm target location. Now you don't have to. :P

    Although if we had an option to zoom in, that'd be awesome.

    The new minimap isn't so bad guys; just have to get your brain to recognize the new orientation.
