New Caustic is worlds better.
New River City is better.
New Forest Colony is slightly better.
I think their track record is pretty good so far with the map reworks.
That said, I'd love to see Downtown, featuring a heavy urban setting with parking garages, skyscrapers, lots of verticality and tight quarters, and no open space except lanes where streets run relatively straight and maybe an urban park or a freeway cutting through the city (complete with under- and overpasses).

Hell, just take polar and change out the snow for amber waves of grain.
Something about that stark contrast of gold against piercing blue sky makes me warm inside.

So hopefully Crimson Strait when they rework it. It needs 100% less mountain....

Somebody explain to me how new Caustic and new Forest Colony are better. New Caustic especially. There is day/night and new light filters. Every problem in the original is still present as far as I can tell. New River city is a little better since it allows more options than previously, but it still becomes citadel most of the time.
I agree with you on a heavy urban map though. River City isn't enough. The fighting rarely finds itself in the thick of the city, since there is so little of it relatively speaking. A map that is just blocks and blocks of buildings would be great.

And they claim they can't add "reworked" versions as new maps because reasons. Dumb excuse is dumb.
*cough* oh what's that? You want old Alpine Peak? uhh.. uhh. Ok guys, you win. By the way, here is a Polar Highlands.

I'm also in the camp of players that would like the "original maps" returned to the rotation if anything to provide a wider variety of maps (rename them or something).
Different sized maps play differently. Variety is the spice of life!
... Wait, that's Dune.

If they kept the old maps for the private lobby, I would agree, but they make odd decisions.

2. Older maps are usually too small and make for horrid quick matches with little skill/tactics.
3. They don't have many original maps left to rework anyways, just sit tight, and its not like they haven't added new ones you're just impatient. -rolls eyes-
The most vocal part of this community contains mostly idiots/those with bad opinions...for example, Alpine stayed because you all whined, and is literally the WORST map in this entire game.

Old River City, the guys who spawned on the left side of the map got ***** more often then not from what I saw of it.
Yea, it was the worst.
I wish they would stop with the fog

Sometimes I think it is an engine limitation they struggle with, like some decision has to be made with the lighting effects they want and it's either "lighting we want and fog" or "lighting we hate and goes against all the themes we have in the game and no fog".
Or someone there just likes artificial range limitations induced by utter blindness vs actual terrain. Yeah, might just be this one.

Some of the historical content with ComStar and the WOB fighting on Terra are great.

And I'd rather have a longer match with more maneuvering than a quick march to the center feature every time. They clearly need to focus on giving the simulator guys a good CW and let the quickplay group get a quick brawl.

New maps are pointless all the time players get the vote, they should be on rotation like they used to be

New Caustic is better
-but you have all the bugs dealing with the rocks in the center (getting stuck mainly)
I am in absolute love with the New River City
-too bad 80% of the map is never used, 99% of the time it is a fight for the citadel
--even on Conquest, it is a fight for the Citadel and then cap as an afterthought
New Forest Colony... with the frame-rate killing mist right in the center of the map where 85% of the fights happen
-and again same problem of 80% of the map not being used
New Caustic is really the only where where I have seen more than 20% of the map being used; but most games still devolve into NAS-CAR around the caldera
And a "downtown" style map would be a godsend, but I would love for JJ's to get fixed before that happens
I mean, hell, half the reason for JJ's is to be better at cityfights
I would love to see this become a map
(I know "river city" is supposed to be the ultimate evolution of the map for this trailer, but I would love to have a cityfight in a proper city)

do bog and therma, those maps actually need the help
like seriously for whatever you thought of the old forest colony, at least it had some variation to it. The new one is a gameflow disaster, so much so that they're going back to fix it up again
