Like it is now, it's like we wear a helmet (do we? I don't even know) so it looks like NV and HV is done on the helmet and the complete screen is affected.

I'd like if the effect was applied to the cockpit's windows so the nice looking interior would still look normal when using any vision mode. Applying the effect on total screen ruin the pretty cockpit colors with all the items in it like warhorns, hanging and such.

Also as it is now it's like 5 years ago it was the quickest and easiest way of doing it, just a filter applied over entire screen. It's time to improve! Posted Image

A few screenshots how it could look.

Actually, yes. Every MechWarrior wears a neurohelmet that transmits our sense of balance to the 'Mech. Along with that, the 360° view from the BattleMech sensors is compressed to about 160° and put onto the neurohelmet screen. We just don't get the 160° compressed view part.

I think it would be nice if the heat vision sensor could normalise to the background IR level. I don't think that's crazy los-tech level sci-fi.

As actual modern pilots wear googles since we don't have wind shields capable night vision I prefer the helmet over the windows. Since there is so much lost tech in the MW universe i feel they would go with the cheaper and effective alternative of just wearing helmets rather than using probably expensive sci-fi windows.

in other words... "MY IMMERSION!"

Can i have spotlights instead?
Spotlights that i can shine into peoples' faces and blind them if they're using nightvision

Besides, the helmet is a small thing on the pilot's head. If something hits it hard enough to disable your NV/HV in combat you've got bigger problems, like a missing head. If you had all that stuffed into the mech windows it could break from a hit that doesn't disable the mech but it's now crippled if you need the vision modes. Mechs may be a scifi dream but at least a detail like this lets us pretend something about them is built with some thought to reliability.
