Hello all.

I thought this was a June patch, not an April patch.

April fools was like 2 months ago right?

Then what is this Joke of a mini map doing in like an April fools joke in our cockpit?


Cons -
To small to see the detail you need like your allies / enemies.

Does not rotate with the mech anymore, now you need to turn on that really irritating yellow arrow on the floor (I bet this is the reason why they did this to justify the Dev cost for that).

Obvious joke is obvious now put it back please - it was fine as it was.

Pros -
Funny joke for first 30secs of post patch gameplay.

Please resolve this issue post haste with a hotfix.

What a poor design on this minimap. It distracts, doesn't inform, and is a complete reversal of any improvements. This means, of course, that the PGI fanbois will rush to defend it. Feels like a bad version of "battleship".

Was being able to use the map to see where you are and were you can go to powerful too?

I mean the purpose of maps since they were invented a few thousand years BC is to navigate after. If you can't do that then I state it is no longer a map.

Exact position or facing I don't need (would like, but eh). However, I don't need a minimap that gives the entire battlefield in blurry detail and might give me a little information at 5k meters, while making it near impossible to get current details within 500 or less meters. The lack of zoom function while in the cockpit view is a feature breaker. Gimp the mech facing indicators all you want PGI, but this current version (without zoom) is near worthless to me.

Why do you (PGI) change working stuff???
Same thing happened to Mech Select back in the days (the huge UI change). PGI removed sorting by weight (the mech were sorted by weight by default before) Posted Image

Please PGI, bring back the old mini map and zoom out a little bit only, it could be so easy.

Please PGI, give me the possibility to sort my Mechs by weight inside a weight class, like i could do it before, back in the days. I mean Locust should be on top of the light class, and 100t mechs should be on bottom of the Assault class. I wish to expose all classes, scroll down from top to the bottom and see the mechs getting heavier and bigger.

I love this game, please don't kill it Posted Image

PGI, how can I disable the mini-map?
It no longer give any information, only blocking the part of the screen =[

yeah so much reduced info that you can't find the domination circle on forest colony because brown on brown works so good with that scale.

Exact position and data is relayed to team by visibility and/or sensors... the old mini map worked exactly as it was supposed to. This new one is a failure in every aspect.

This minimap is gonna turn new players away like nothing else before.. Gotta turn that damn arrow on now just to see where I'm going, but it's useless on frozen city. A map I would like if it hadn't replaced the old one..

The new minimap sucks. It is change for the sake of change. It gives no useful information because the area covered is so huge. I can just see on Polar having to have a magnifying glass just to see where you are. PGI probably thought "This really looks cool". And of course looking good trumps functionality. Now put it back the way it was. I don't want it "fixed" I want it just the way it was.

I rarely complain but I just returned from 1 years absence and I enjoy the game again. 2 weeks later you do this to the minimap? Please reconsider the new map. As it is it is completely worthless.

The decision to change the mini map just hurts my brain. It's close to useless now. PGI could at the very least give us the option to zoom in to ghet more detail. Or better yet give us the option to toggle between the old and the new one and just make everyone happy.

So many MJ12's rage quit the game today. This horrible stomach-churning mini-map change, combined with the new lurm friendly frozen city map and light-mechs-the-same-size as-mediums debacle.. i've never been more worried about the future of this game.

The new frozen city might have potential. I've only run a couple of games on it so far, but I think I like it. The rescale upscale wasn't as bad as I feared (far from good, but still), but the minimap... Dear Lord, what kind of drugs were they on? It is objectively horrible - not only stomach-churning, but also completely useless.

I have to agree regarding the MINI map. It doesn't work in the least. To be very frank if you just look from a brain standpoint the new mini map doesn't work the brain has been trained to look at GPS in the real world and what happens the map moves to the orientation of the car. I don't know anyone who uses a GPS in static orientation because the brain doesn't process it that way. So you took a perfectly serviceable information system and your improvements to it made it useless.

However I do like the fact that there are no directional arrows for mechs on the minimap but it should only be for the opposite team. part of battle tech is sharing electronic information and so your fellow teamates should be able to see orientation as long as the mech is moving if it stops and just pivots than I can see it not giving that information.

regarding the command wheel as long as the minimap stays the way it is now its going to be pretty much useless. Teamspeak makes voip and command wheels virtually unused.

I enjoy the new frozen city I think its a good change

Lastly I do realize that you need a revenue stream and mechs and mechbays are that primary source but the consensus among the community is that there needs to be more maps. The user base for this game is shrinking and to attract more and new users and keep the ones you have you HAVE GOT TO make it interesting and new maps do that.

If you want to make a significant improvement give the ability to look behind and underneath like MW4 plain and simple that technology should have been built in and cameras and displays would be integrated into a mech. If the CRYengie will not support this than you chose the wrong one.

last thing is I don't complain much as I did alpha and beta testing and disliked the game than but came back to it not long ago. in the beginning there was the ability to transfer mechs and a lot of other features that were not implemented or removed which would have made this a better game, but my love of mech is such that I was happy with an upgraded version of MW4 so I could play 12 man which is what this is.

please fix that MINIMAP I have spent a crapload of money and you just really made me hate this game.
