At the end of the day, I want to spend a bajillion hours in the mechlab, show it off to my friends, and play with configurations while I'm eating lunch.

Somewhere down the road, I want a robust web interface for configuring and seeing your configurations in the mechlab.

Let's be honest here, all the mechlab is, is a gui front-end to a database somewhere. Your database. (actually your slice of the data set but that's another matter entirely)

So enabling 2 interfaces (one in-game and 3D) and one "web-ified" with art assets / javascript / ajax is just another project to initiate :)

Heck, I'd even pay a fee to have that interface. Would you?

I don't think they'll put up something that lets us customize our actual mechs from the website, but I do expect to see a flash mechlab up someday, official or not. Similar to talent calculators for WoW. There's already multiple utilities to do this like megameklab, we'd just need the actual data from MWO.

As for charging for it...eh. I could see it selling as an iphone app or whatever.

I wouldn't pay a fee to access a web-based Mechlab.

The in-game Mechlab is free so what would be the justification for charging?

Yeah, I'm getting sick of uploading pics to share configs.
So, here's the question: if we had money to throw at somebody, who would that be?

No need for it. I can do it ingame, thats enough. Otherwise the are enough mecheditors out there.

Okay, for the good of the thread, I volunteer to have money thrown at me.

I would not like to see a pay-for online MechLab; if they do something online it should be free access. What I could see paying for (one time) would be a phone / tablet app with the MechLab and maybe other features integrated into it.

Make sure your armor is maxed out as I intend to fire full rolls of large coins at you from an autocannon.

A Piranha sponsored mechlab would be great for the game. There can be a paint a mech like Boeing's Design your dream liner website https://designyourow...m/#!/en/design/ And then there can be the mechlab where people test loadouts, share them and see what others are doing.

Players get what they want and Piranha gets more traffic to their website which in turns ups the chances of new players and all in the name of social warfare.

My feelings so far. I have whipped up a gazillion 'mechs over the years with HMPro. What is bothering me now is the hardpoint issue. I got excited and started whipping out IS configs for known 'mechs. However if Jumpjets are not available to put on variants, and hardpoints... Well for now I am suspending my 'mech creation operations till I know more. Just not enough information out there.

For the OP, I guess I already have with HMPro.

They said in the # 10 answer set that they are planning to put up some kind of web database where you can read about everything in the game, such as Mechs and weapons. They will probably put that up when the game is closer to release and more things are set in stone.

I'm still stuck in the noBETA desert and can't wait to get a closer look at the tech being used. I would like a web based mech creation tool though. Sometimes you are at work goofing off and would like to be able to sneak in at lunch and swap out some weapons before I get home to the fight.

A fee? Now what sense does that make?
