Return Of God Tom?

It took out 10-11 fresh mechs right there.
I'll have to go back and check the patch notes, but did LT get returned to its previous... glory?

If only we didn't live on an island, Russ might care.
So, we can either continue dropping against the Long John Thomas or we can boycott the match.
Either way, Russ still doesn't care.
Would you like to buy a mechpack? The Cyclops mechpack comes with free doritos!

We asked PGI to put the LT into the game, but what we were asking was for the mech-equippable weapon that Mektek's MW4 had. Instead of understanding what we were asking for, Russ decided it would be a brilliant idea to have an NPC drop bombs on us.

Unless you run into the enemy team so they get damaged as well, you won't be able to turn the tide once you take a couple of long toms over the course of the match.

In Mechwarrior4 most private league owners banned them all from League game play because players would come into matches and just spam them until the match was a total garbage on both sides.

1. Drops too frequently
2. Does too much damage
3. scares off players from even wanting to show up. (the worst problem really)
4. Can be turned on its own players if the other team is coordinated
We need something less in-your-face. Maybe in keeping with the Long Tom Concept, getting to 90% would disable enemy Airstrike and Artillery Strike Consumables.

Hey, I haven't heard that suggestion, before.
I say, include UAVs and make it disable all consumables. That seems about as powerful a setback to most teams as what the LT was supposed to be. Whether they justify it as air superiority or ECM or some other excuse, I think everyone would rather play that game than one with a Thomas ramming down your throat.

Anyway, what we have in MWO does not seem like it any relationship to the "long tom" from the lore, but more like a nuclear strike. Regardless however of its lore, its damage output in this game, or what anyone thinks of it; it is in fact a game mechanism that is actively encouraging teams and individuals of all skill levels to avoid playing the game. In my humble opinion that just seems like a really bad idea. Meh. Its Russ' game. He knows best, I guess.

It was slightly nerfed, but after May 26th, it went back into, "bend over and squeal like a pig," mode.

I think I was your opponent in that match and I must say we genuinely felt bad for you guys when it happened. I think we even asked our unit to stop scouting on the planet so it could be negated. IIRC, it was deactivated near the end of the match, but the damage was already done.
I am not a fan of nuclear long tom.

Once the Long Tom comes online, all attacks on the planet stop.
Which means all matches stop.
That stupid thing needs to be removed.

So that's why the LT is back to its original fire power.
Its to force player to play the scouting mode, which I really don't care about.

No, it's back to its original state because PGI's version control is seemingly nonexistent and it appears they reintroduced older faulty code during a hotfix for something else. The alternative possibility is they cranked it back up just out of pure spite... but lets not try and think about that. The fact that they've known about it and still haven't corrected it in the last patch OR hotfix does make one wonder though..

That's why I'm not dropping FW's Invasion mode, at least. If it fired once per match, fine, but every couple minutes? By the time you respawn and make it to the gates, you die. Repeat.
