I was looking forward to this feature for so long I almost feel bad asking for the addition of keybinding so soon and saying it isn't really useful until that's in. But it sort of needs keybinding to be useful regardless.

Using The Command Wheel Takes Too Long. Give Us Keybinds

Command wheel?
How about a command "square"?

Do I have enough buttons?

I don't think keybinds are a necessity. Just fixing the command wheel and battlegrid so that they aren't a pain in the arse to use would probably be enough. I've comprehensively outlined everything that I would change here: https://www.reddit.c..._comprehensive/
I don't have much issue using the command wheel as is, I don't feel the need for keybinds. It's just something you have to practice to get good at. That said, the mechanics are a bit clunky right now, so I wrote that thread and I HOPE *fingers crossed* that the people responsible at PGI get a chance to read it.

or...
Use the Caps Lock key and say exactly what you want to communicate. Spare me the "but I don't have a mic" excuses too. Mics have been a must-have for multiplayer games for the past 20 years. They're cheap and can be bought anywhere.

Tribes got it perfect, dozens of messages with few quick key sequences started by "V". It could be easily added to the current MWO wheel:
ET = thanks
EA = affermative
EN = negative
EE = enemy spotted (basically double tapping, very fast and effective)

Tribes:Ascend does it terribly. All I know is VGS. Unless you're constantly using every single key combination, it takes weeks if not longer to learn them all. I was delighted when World of Tanks moved away from the F keys and added a wheel.
Sure, the implementation of it in MWO isn't any better at all. They should've gone with a full wheel where you press E, move your mouse in a certain direction and release E and that's it, instead of the whole cursor thing.
Also, while we're at it, something more than just "Affirmative", "Negative" and "Thank you" would be nice. Kinda like Tribes:Ascend does, but without having to memorize every single key combination.
Few examples here:

P.S.
Maybe a handful of event triggered voice lines would be nice to have too. (What, a man can dream right?)

Give an inch, people want a mile. Please wait at least a week before commencing hardcore qqing. These asking for more threads clogging the forum. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for making this a better game but seriously, these pocket developer threads are getting a little much ATM. Let the patch settle and get accustomed to it, collect some data, then post your feels please for the love of all things tied to some dude named Ketensky.

I have seen many sorts of voice command menus over the years and nothing has ever beaten the Tribes' elegant voice menu. They never had to alter it significantly because it works so well. Sure it's complex and 3 - 4 layers deep, but it's perfectly learnable. Why? Because it always shows the letter combination at the beginning of the message. The new players can learn the common letter combinations by imitation very quickly, and they will become muscle memory in no time. MWO's imitation of it wouldn't necessary have to have as many layers.
I haven't looked into the MWO's current comm rose very deeply, but it seems to be a pretty bad implementation. It seems to trap my mouse when I try to talk, which is annoying. Maybe there is some option I have simply missed, tho.

Elegant? It always took me 10 seconds to find the correct response or taunt. In a game where a 2 second distraction gets you killed.

Yes, but if you played for a while, you'd quickly learn to hit those keys without thinking. For the reason I already stated. You learn the combinations by imitating the other players, and also partially by figuring the logic of the keys leading to submenus, but mostly by the imitation.

As much as i love Tribes and Tribes2, the voice system was just that, a chitchat voice system. The ComoRose of Battlefield, especially 2142, was a command wheel that was linked to your HUD and teammates and not used to chitchat and spam shazbot but rather put visual command/queue on your teammate HUD and the map or ask the Commander for supply/arty/etc. We are certainly not there yet but it has more potential than the system of T2 who used "shazbot" "need a pilot" and "need a gunner" and nothing else.
One of the problem is that the game is really fast paced now on top of being short lived so theres not that much place/time for tactical commands. Everybody can throw uav and arty which pretty much negates the use of a Commander. The fact that it is on a random matchmaker rather than server also means we can't really have a commander because the team are randomized every 10minutes. Still, at least it's there and the spoting command is usefull now as it keep the spoted target on the map for some time.

Tribes system was more than "chit chat", Yes the game had a looser feel and lots of spammy voice chat (by design) but you could still set waypoints, call targets, request help, issue commands, define roles, and get HUD indicators or tasks all while in the thick of battle. the system was not hard to learn. every voice bind had also showed in the chat window prefixed by the key combo to use it, and they were well categorized: vg=globals vv=quick va=attacks vd=defends etc. its been 13 years and I could write out most of them out still.
