Hello everybody. I begun playing after a year of inactivity and I noticed on Quickplay that certain maps are vastly prefered over others. Maps like Canyon network (I think the number one choice), HPG Manifold, Mining Collective and Frozen city seem to be the main winner in all the cases. Maps like Viridian Bog, Alpine peaks, Caustic valley, etc seem to be always rejected. I can understand the reasons why players prefer certain maps, but this trend (if there is actually one) will make the gameplay rather boring. If PGI finds that statistics confirm this observation, maybe they could add an algorithm to present from time to time choice only among the less favorable maps so we can play them once in a while.

Every once in awhile only the maps that no one wanted to play comes up, which makes the majority of people have to pick between maps they don't want to play on. So it does already randomly happen every once in awhile.

That said I would be against your idea because I would love to never play on some of those maps and would hate to be forced to, infact I'd prefer the ability to just pick the maps you do want to play then have everyone thrown into the matchmaker based on those picks so that everyone could play on just the maps they want to play on. It gets pretty annoying when you decide for once to actually go and pick your brawler mech and then every single time you get Alpine Peaks so you end up just going back to your mid to long range mech, which leaves us where we are with the majority of people picking laser vomit and massed ACs over short range builds which rely heavily on the map.

They couldn't care less. They've just replaced old FrozenCity with a new map. Old one was voted pretty much every time it was avaliable, new one - not so much. Opinions do not MatterTM.

I haven't seen this hapening, that's why I posted on the first place.

Never playing on a certain map means that you'll end up playing on 5-6 maps in total? Won't hat will be boring? And then what? Start complaining for not having enoug variety?
Besides we had random maps for way more time than we have voting. All I ssuggest is to give a little "nudge" to the unused maps so we get to see one of them once in a while.

Well I don't have a problem with the variety of maps, I have a problem with the quality of the game on certain maps. For me when I play on Terra Therma it usually is boring with the team camping at the entrance to the center or inside of it waiting for the enemy to try to come in so we can kill them. On Alpine its always a long range skirmish usually with a hill or valley in the middle. Polar Highlands also is usually a long range skirmish with LRMs also involved. Caustic Valley is usually a NASCAR race, etc.

If I can pick my map then I can decide to go on Canyon Network if I'm in a fast jump capable mech and run around and have fun, If I'm in a brawler I could go onto Mining Collective for a good fight where I can actually get in range of my enemy, If I'm in an LRM boat I can decide to not go to HPG or Crimson Strait and be entirely useless if the enemy is under something for the whole match.

What I'm saying is that with variety comes maps I like and maps I dislike, I find the maps I like fun and the maps I dislike boring, thus me not having to play on maps I find boring means that the game is less boring for me even with less variety.

The current system to me is like having a variety box of candies and you are forced to eat them, you got chocolate, strawberry, caramel, and crap flavor. In that situation it would be much better to cut down on the variety to only ones you want.

If I had to choose between playing Canyon Network 100 times in a row or playing a mix of Caustic Valley, Polar Highlands, Alpine Peaks, Viridian Bog, and Terra Therma 100 times in a row, I'd go with Canyon Network every time.

Trolls keep the universe in balance. You'll still see everything. PGI has also confirmed that they're redoing some of their maps.
