I think it's time that the community started asking for balancing on behalf of all light mechs. Not just the Jenner specifically, or just the Firestarter specifically, or the Wolfhound or whatever else.

Most light mechs are in a bad place right now. PGI needs to make some universal changes to light mechs, not just throw a few structure quirk crumbs to specific variants. I know the players asked for incremental changes instead of nuke nerfing and godlike buffs every other month, but give me a break. It's not like the Commando and the Kit Fox are both teetering on the edge of becoming weapons of mass destruction.

Until the assaults actually learn to aim this will never change. They will always cry how a 35 ton or less mech killed them due to their poor situational awareness, being caught alone, unable to aim, not knowing how to back and turn so forth and so on, yeah its always the evils light mechs OP'ness that comes out. The cries for the locust and the cheetah will soon be as loud as it was for the OXIDE.

That's why light mech enthusiasts need to rally together instead of simply looking after their personal favourites, I've seen 100 threads about the Oxide, but how many about the state of light mechs in general?

No. What people need to learn now is to pilot light mechs like they are just that: light mechs.

Lights mechs are either utilitarian or scouts or harassers/flankers. Larger mechs have other uses like being in the front lines. Get used to that and you'll do fine. Support your team instead of trying to solo larger mechs on your own.

Right. Bad mechs aren't bad. The players are bad. Nice try, Paul. You'll need an older alt account than that to fool anyone tho.

Well they need to be careful here, imo a 35 tonner should be 5 tons less tanky then 40 tonners. Meaning let's not knee jerk light mechs into God meta by insane structure quirks.

You still don't see that many, maybe we will as the patch settles more, but lights should not look to survivability in the form of structure quirks, it's about speed and agility for lights not armor or structure...

Currently lights have neither.

As I said in another thread: put a 300 XL in a Jenner and a Centurion D. Run zigzag and some fake evasive maneuvers. You will be shocked how responsive the Centurion is and how "spongy" the Jenner IIC. Even the Wolfhound-1 - the fastes Wolfie feels somewhat spongy. That is simply INSANE (and no, it is not Sparta)

In general, I do not think Light Mechs need a buff. The ones I am seeing in game are doing fine and are often among the last Mechs standing. I am not seeing them getting one shot left and right. I am not seeing them plodding around so slow that they are easy to hit. I am still seeing them getting kills and being a royal pain in the a$$ to anything larger than a Medium.

Having said all that, I feel that if the Oxide gets to keep its structure quirks then the rest of the Jenners and the Jenner II should get them too.

Nope, I have to defend Bishop Steiner here as much as it galls me. He is NOT a troll (in this case at least). Bishop is just the average heavy or assault pilot (see picture) who holds the opinion that everything which isn't vaporised withing 2-3 alphas of their almighty warmachines must be nerfed because it is op. The picture furthermore testifies that it is absolutely the fault of the light mechs and not of the heavy or assault pilots

Oh I will point and counter point all day long. The problem is still the same though. Lights got the short end of the stick yet again in this patch. To prove a singular point... here is a bug I have been reporting since BETA!!!!!

Has it been fixed?????? Nope not in years and I report it EVERY patch

I have to correct you, sorry. They got the short end of the stick TWO times (size and movement archtype)

That being said I still laugh what locusts now do to them which is worse what was done before. A good punishment for their gloating haha

I think this is a good time to look towards the Battletech novels for inspiration. I posted about this on /r/outreachhpg, but I'll rewrite it here...

In the lore, Jenners traveled in packs and would ambush assaults. The assault cannot do much when many Jenners are attacking it.
The Jenners would ambush, attack, run out of sight, and then attack again.

This kills the assault 'mech.

players asked for re-scale, they got it, all wrong but they got it.

just like the long tom, just like FP and all the rest.

this game would be dead a long time ago if it wasn't with a BT skin

And it should. And I still see solo Jennys do it too, but they have to be smarter and more patient, usually. But apparently, having 150 kph Lights quirked to Assault level firepower is not enough for some people.

Nice try but you are barking up the wrong tree. I believe that Bishop has stated many times that he is primarily a Medium pilot (as am I) maybe that is why he finds it funny that The Light Pilots are moaning about being nerfed when, in many cases, they are still faster, smaller, have as much armor and structure and some pack more of a punch than many Mediums.

But carry on. Everyone has their own agenda.
