So my team was arranged along the blue lines, and the enemies were somewhere in the red area. We were sitting there, about 5 minutes in when I got bored. We were too far for me to even trade fire with my LPLas on my PXH-R. So then I tell my team, "Hey guys, gonna do something stupid. Just saying..."

And I meander along the green line. After passing through their spawn, I bumped into a ButterBee. So I hightail it back over the cliff and skirt the cliff. I tell my team that I peeled a few off their main lines (saw some more running from the dropship), and now was their chance to push. Well, I hop back over the cliff to keep them away from the main lines and to give my team a chance. I start dodging and weaving in my phoenix hawk, running between buildings and such. Turns out the WHOLE enemy team chased after me. I continue running through them, dodging between structures, and such. I jump over the dropship, armless, and there is my team, all in position. I call out on voip that I think their whole team chased me, and they should be right behind me. Well, someone responds with, " well that explains why their base was completely empty....". A grand melee ensues, and my team wins. Ironically, I did like 90 dmg, and killed no one.

All with a bunch of random puggers from solo que. Good times!

You... You scouted... And it worked! Usually ends with me getting pasted. Congrats on that tactic, bad payout or not.

there is almost never a good payout for scouting, if you do run into them there is a good chance you'll get wrecked if you don't run into them you wasted your time.

it can help win a game but it is almost never rewarded.

the flip side is the rewards for killing lights are few. just as much effort, sometime more then killing a heavy or assault and you get diddly squat

Good story too.

PHX needs like 100 RA 100 LA structure/armor

I love when a team chases off after a light or light medium, I've seen lights and light mediums win matches but do no damage.

I also take on that role quite often, but most of the time it ends with me dying for nothing as my team keeps on camping.

It was not intentional, but merely an MS paint attempt to show my path :P

A little sad, we could have stories here but no one is sharing :(

I admit I don't play lights enough to really pull stunts like this, but there was the one time I did a "berserker charge in my Banshee 3E. It was on Viridian Bog, and our team was doing the usual "slowly lose by cowering" tactic. Somehow, I ended up in a poor position near the end of our lines, but I also had a straight shot into the ranks of the enemy team. So, knowing full well I'd die, I did a death charge in, blasting holes in everything right and left. I did lots of damage before dying - nobody expected a reasonably fast assault mech to come out of nowhere - but more importantly, this kicked my team in the rear and got them moving so we could win the match.

Or it needs to be the size of a 45 tonner and not a 100 tonner....PGI spent so much time on that rescale and literally solved absolutely nothing.........

If anything, they caused more then they solved, making mechs like the Zeus, Warhammer and Mauler bigger.......

Its really quite sad.....16 meter tall 45 ton mech? really guys? Its like 60 feet tall lol.....

True story: Teams that start in the location of the old Frozen city, chances are you will not win if you let the enemy team flank up the left side into the city AND behind you. It has happened too many times, stahp it please. (Even when the push has been scouted..)

My absolute first drop in new Frozen City.

Maybe it was the group I had dropped with, but I enjoyed the experience. And yeah, scouting/reporting works well.

I had a conquest match on Grim Plexus in my Pirate's Bane where I did nothing but cap points all game while the two teams duked it out. The only damage I did was a couple shots at a PXH that took his arm off. 30 points total damage dealt, none taken.

The scariest moment of that match was when I was sneaking around the enemy spawn and I found a fresh Dire Wolf who had been DC'd or AFK at the beginning and was just starting to move out. I tagged him with an Enemy Spotted and shut down so my ECM wouldn't alert him. He walked right by me.

I did something similar once (out of pure boredom) in a 4 ERPPC sniper Warhawk on Alpine Peaks, went with it north following the path in the narrow valley between the hill and the radio tower, where the road blockades are. Not to much surprise, their whole team spotted me going for my nice sniping spot, followed to kill me, while turning their backs in an open field towards whole of my team that came behind them.

Ironically I did 150 damage that game but our team stomped the enemy for it.

See on the old Frozen City this would have been a much shorter story and involved a team standing listless in B4 while the other charged C3 and straight to their base while the B4 folks tried to snipe and their slower elements.

No no... scouting involves not getting seen so you can continue reporting info.

This is playing squirrel.
