Many teams have withdrawn from the tournament, which got me thinking about a possible issue with the withdrawal rules and scoring.

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN A TEAM STOPS PARTICIPATING, OR IS DISQUALIFIED FROM THE TOURNAMENT?
If a Team has Withdrawn from the Tournament, or has been Disqualified, every Team that was scheduled against them will automatically receive a win in the standings for any matches they were scheduled to play, and for any past matches that may have already been played (if applicable). For Example: Team A wins against Team B early in the Tournament. Later in the Tournament, Team A is no longer participating, either because they Withdrew or were Disqualified. With Team A's removal from the Tournament, their first victory against Team B is now marked as a Win for Team B.
If a Team fails to appear for an officially scheduled or previously agreed upon match time with no notice or communication more than 3 times during the Tournament, that Team will be Disqualified. Teams who have either Withdrawn or been Disqualified will appear struck-through in the Team List and Schedule.

This means, if theoretically Team X and Team B have a late season qualifier match and are both fighting for a place in the finals. Team X won against Team A and Team Y, to whom Team B lost. Team B wins against Team X, but team X has 1 more win total and has a place in the regional finals. Now Team A and Team Y withdraw from tournament, and victories are granted to Team B, even though they lost first. Team B goes to the finals even though technically they have lost more matches.

Does this sound fair? To me it does not. It also opens a completely different can of worms of backroom deals between teams, where teams that no longer have a chance to be in the finals can hamper other teams in favor of others.

sadly there will never be an absolute bulletproof system if teams dropout. there will always be circumstances that will be perceived as negativ.

The overall idea is if a team drops out everyone gets a win,which basicly invalidates all matches against that team

Every team will be measured against the same number of opponents, whether played, forfeited or given a retroactive forfeit.

Therefore, once it all shakes out and all if the teams that end up removed, then it will actually be your record of wins and losses against the "live" teams that matter. Everyone will have the same number of forfeits padding their win-loss record.
