It's sorta weird seeing how few 60-ton designs there really are that go anywhere- the Ost-series being the really best known ones outside of the Rifleman as far as IS chassis go.

Probably because it's not really a great niche in terms of weight- bottom of the heavy types, just enough weight to make it use 1-ton jump jets, and so on. Honestly, I'd rather see em add in the Grand Dragon to the Dragon chassis list (-1G, -5K) if we needed more 60-tonners. The Merlin just doesn't have enough going for it to be an addition all by itself.

Probably because there are better 60t mechs like the Lancelot & Anvil. http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Anvil

I like the Merlin, feel like I posted about back in the forums a few years ago but didn't get much love.

I enjoyed using the Merlin on tabletop. I think a P variant with a 360XL, despite breaking the canon pattern, could be pretty cool, along with the ability to mount six jump jets. Of course it might have to sacrifice a hardpoint.

Both the Lancelot & Anvil can equip 360 engines according to MWO's limits without a special variant.

Chocie between Anvil and Lacelot : Anvil all the time
Reason 1 - HP Location
Reason 2 - JumpJets
Reason 3 - ECM
Reason 4 - Zombie potential hitboxes
Reason 5 - volumetric rescale Posted Image

You know the game will be in a perfect place when the "advantage" over another wouldn't include ECM. or hitboxes or HP Location...

last not least it looks much better
